Spied: 2020 Volkswagen Tiguan facelift coming soon?

3/4 view of the facelifted Volkswagen Tiguan, shot by CocheSpias.

Volkswagen Tiguan was launched here back in 2017, adding a European flavor to the hotly contested C-segment market, dominated by the likes of Proton X70, Honda CR-V, and Mazda CX-5. The Volkswagen Tiguan in Malaysia is locally assembled at Volkswagen’s factory at Pekan and is certified as an Energy Efficient Vehicle (EEV), available in three variant, all powered by the same 1.4-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged engine mated to 6-speed dual-clutch transmission.

Current outlook of Volkswagen Tiguan.

With that being said, the Tiguan certainly needs a refresh to keep up with the competition, and the leaked spy shot from CocheSpias reveals a much more modern and edgier face, a design cue we’ve seen on the 2020 Volkswagen Golf and Volkswagen Passat.

The first major change comes from the use IQ LED matrix headlight, with a slimmer and longer design along with a more expressive grille design, consistent with latest Volkswagen design language. From the huge wheel and sporty looking front bumper, this could very well be the R-line trim.

There is no further information on whether the 1.4-litre mill will soil on, but expect the Tiguan to follow the recipe of it siblings – new 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, Discover Pro infotainment system and revamped digital instrument cluster.

Future Tiguan? Maybe, maybe not.

Another interesting follow-up to the facelifted Tiguan is this photo by Volkswagen’s CEO Herbert Diess shared on his LinkedIn, showing a nondescript red crossover that looks a lot like a potential successor to the Volkswagen Tiguan. Take this with a pinch of salt though, as this could just be several rendering experiments or test designs that Diess is showing. Simply put - why would a company CEO purposely leak out a model way before the physical model is out on the road?

Oops... Something broke.

Toyota's Kinto is getting bored, finds a way to make the AH30 Alphard and Vellfire sliding doors close faster

You know how some cars can be truly fantastic except for one minor detail that you just can’t overlook and it ends up ruining the entire driving experience. It could be a terrible head unit or a bad seating position. Well, some of the engineers at Toyota’s Kinto subscription service thought that could be the abysmally slow speed of the sliding doors on the previous AH30 generation of the Toyota Alphard and Vellfire. Either that or they must be getting really bored over there. Or someone has secr

Review: BYD Dolphin in Malaysia - A solid choice for EV beginners, except for one thing

You might be aware that Malaysia prohibits the import of electric vehicles (EVs) priced below RM 100,000, and this is indeed accurate. The rationale behind this policy, driven by the Ministry of Investment, Trade, and Industry (MITI), is actually sound when you consider their goal of attracting investments in the EV sector. In the world of technology, most of the valuable stuff is in the higher-end product range. Cheaper electric cars have minimal technological sophistication; they're kind of li
