All-new 2020 Honda Jazz to launch in China with a different grille

Japanese market Jazz. Regular model on the left, Crosstar on the right is the only variant with a grille

However when the Jazz went on sale in Japan in February, the company also offered a conventional looking grille as an optional accessory, clearly there were feedbacks from Japanese users who preferred their cars to have a grille.

Optional grille, part of the Modulo accessories package

Now that the worst of Covid-19 is over for China and economic activities are set to resume, Honda is gearing up to launch the Jazz there.

Leaked photos of the Chinese market Jazz (as sold as Fit in China) showed a slightly different front-end design, with a more angular front bumper and it has a traditional grille.

The front-end looks rather similar to the Honda Fit Modulo X concept that was presented at the 2020 Tokyo Auto Salon.

Also leaked are photos of the taller riding Fit Crosstar. It looks identical to the Japanese market model, using to the same wheel design and side mirrors.

Powertrain options are yet to be announced but Chinese media say it will most likely be powered by a direct injection 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine that makes 130 PS, which 10 PS more than the port injection engine that is used on our local Jazz.

The transmission will of course, be a CVT-type automatic, driving the front wheels.

Honda City Hatchback will be like what the Toyota Yaris is to the Vios

Closer to home, we are still not sure if we will even the all-new fourth generation Honda Jazz at all. There are rumours that Honda is looking to discontinue the Jazz across the region, to be replaced with a Honda City Hatchback that is said to be better suited to the demands of users in this region, versus the bulbous new generation Jazz.

Toyota's Kinto is getting bored, finds a way to make the AH30 Alphard and Vellfire sliding doors close faster

You know how some cars can be truly fantastic except for one minor detail that you just can’t overlook and it ends up ruining the entire driving experience. It could be a terrible head unit or a bad seating position. Well, some of the engineers at Toyota’s Kinto subscription service thought that could be the abysmally slow speed of the sliding doors on the previous AH30 generation of the Toyota Alphard and Vellfire. Either that or they must be getting really bored over there. Or someone has secr

Review: BYD Dolphin in Malaysia - A solid choice for EV beginners, except for one thing

You might be aware that Malaysia prohibits the import of electric vehicles (EVs) priced below RM 100,000, and this is indeed accurate. The rationale behind this policy, driven by the Ministry of Investment, Trade, and Industry (MITI), is actually sound when you consider their goal of attracting investments in the EV sector. In the world of technology, most of the valuable stuff is in the higher-end product range. Cheaper electric cars have minimal technological sophistication; they're kind of li
