2020 Mercedes-AMG A45 S launched in Malaysia - RM 459,888, cheaper than BMW M2 Competition

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) has launched the 2020 Mercedes-AMG A45 S via online livestream. Yup, this is indeed the new normal. What we have here is the top-of-the-range S model in Edition 1 form, priced at RM 459,888 on-the-road without insurance.

Mercedes AMG A45 Overview

Against its more subdued sibling, the A35, there’s the more aggressive Panamericana front grille with vertical slats, canards on the front bumper, and quad exhaust tips.

The Edition 1 package on the Mercedes-AMG A45 S adds the Aerodynamic package with a larger front splitter, the aforementioned canards, larger spoiler, and more aggressive rear diffuser. There are also stickers on the side.

The Mercedes-AMG A45 S gets Multibeam LED headlamps with Adaptive Highbeam Assist, 19-inch wheels painted in matte black, and the brake calipers are painted in red.

Over to the meaty part, the powertrain. The M139 2.0-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder engine makes 421 PS and 500 Nm of torque and is mated to an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission. Power goes to all four wheels with the 4Matic+ all-wheel drive system.

The Mercedes-AMG A45 S completes the century sprint in 3.9 seconds and heads all the way to a top speed of 270 km/h.

Moving inside, there are body-hugging AMG Performance seats, AMG Performance steering wheel, AMG door sills and floor mats, as well as Edition 1 trim elements.

As standard, the Mercedes-AMG A45 S is featured with a head-up display, Burmester sound system, MBUX with AMG Track Pace, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto connectivity, and wireless charging. Also featured is the Mercedes Me connect which allows remote access to services from remote start to vehicle tracker.

Advanced driver assistance systems include Active Brake Assist, Active Lane Keeping Assist, Active Parking Assist with Parktronic, and Blind Spot Assist.
