Basic information about my car:

2017 Honda Civic 1.5 TC , RM120k

Reasons why I bought this car(purpose):

I've always wanted to buy a new car for my family. As it stood, my dad always bought a used car during his working days as he couldn't afford a new car back then. And I made a decision to buy a new car for the family . This car was meant to be use for special occasions and long distance commute(eventually start using as daily drive).

Car Selection Process

  • I had a budget of: RM100k
  • Models that I have considered include:Honda City Hybrid , Mazda 3 , Toyota Corolla

It took me a whole 4 months of reviews online since I was working outside Malaysia. During this period I thought of going for Honda City Hybrid. But then the price was closer to honda civic 1.8 spec. At the same time,Mazda 3 was being sold at Rm 99k after discount. However at 186cm tall, the car(Mazda 3) was too tight for me,both the front and back seat. On the other hand, the Toyota Corolla lacked many features and the price was on the higher side. When I wanted to go for the Honda Civic 1.8, there was a rebate price for the Honda Civic 1.5 tc at Rm120k. After multiple test drive and torturing the salesman,I decided to go for the Honda Civic 1.5 TC.

User Experience

  •  I have already done 68,000 km.
  • My average fuel consumption is: 17 to 19 km

The car was rather a safe purchase for me being the japanese car,and will rather hold its value well which it did.Initially I brought the car since it was having a upper interior and a turbocharged engine. But later on as daily driving ,I found the handling was rather good and sharp(although not as good as mazda). On the other hand, it's a comfortable cruise at 160km/h on highway. During cornering, the car tends to lean a little more, but not to an extent of under/oversteer.Android Auto was the icing on the cake as I use it for almost most of my driving and Civic was the earliest in Malaysia to adopt it in its price range. Some of the things modified were , interior lighting , bodykit , Stage 1 tune @(185hp , 280 N.m ) and Valvetronic add in.

Pros and Cons

Pros of my car

+Great stock sound system.
+Availability of android auto
+Very ergonomic and practical
+Plenty of cupholders
+VERY huge cabin(for a 186cm height) both front and back seat
+Very comfortable ride.My passengers always slept off at the back.
+ Received many compliments from passersby .
+ Great Stock tyre (Continental MC5)

Cons

-All seats except the driver(can adjust high) are too low. Older people complain for getting in and out.
-No automatic wiper (but its not bothersome if you are not used to it)
- Heavy foot causes heavy fuel consumption.
- Too wide, and difficulty to enter tight spaces.

Total Score: 5

Performance: 5

Quality & Features: 5

Space: 5

Ride comfort: 5

Fuel Economy: 4

Price & cost: 4

Summary:

Honda had created Civic FC, I daresay AHEAD of time at a low cost. There are faults here and there ,as no cars are perfect, but it works great as a commuter car. Everytime i jump in the car, it always puts a smile on my face.

Interesting Events:

Not much happened, but some known civic problems happened. I had replaced the steering rack(already revised to newer version), A/C evaporator and thermostat (still not revised and continue giving noise) and lower arm bad condition (replaced).
