Owner Review: First time owning an Euro car - My Mercedes-Benz C200

** This article is the personal experience of a 2014 Mercedes-Benz W204 C200 owner and does not necessarily reflect the views of WapCar.

The Mercedes-Benz W204 C200 is the first Euro car I have ever owned – prior to this, it was all JDM and Local. I picked up this gem of a car in 2019, as a replacement to my tired Proton Saga BLM. The other options that we were mulling over included the Mercedes-AMG CLA 45. Eventually, after lots of discussions and searching, we settled on the C200.

Side, bought it last year March 14, 2019, with a price of RM93k otr and so on. I have been dreaming to have this car since 2016, so here it is my dream car comes out from my dream… every man dream to succeed and get your very own dream car.

You will never understand my feeling when paid everything in cash and waited the car for 1 week to process everything. ( every man understand what I saying about the feeling when u get a new thing or buy a new thing)

Initially, after waited for 1 week I finally drove the car from Second-Hand carshop at Serdang was seriously amused me hahaha.. those feeling is totally priceless.

First impressions? Excited Max. The build quality and materials were second-to-none. It wasn’t hard to understand why Mercedes-Benz has always been used as the benchmark for luxury. Everything was covered in soft-touch materials, the major contact points (steering wheel, armrests, seats, shifter) were wrapped in leather, and oh so nice to touch. The fit and finish was immaculate, even for a car that old. Every control was distinctively German; solid and weighted, and needed some force to operate. Nothing felt fragile or dainty.

Special features – The little things that matter.

As my car is a Japanese import, there are certain things as I’ve mentioned previously that my car has, and some that it lacks, when compared to the local models. To make it easier, I’ll list it down below.

What I have

  • Split folding rear seats
  • COMAND-APS infotainment
  • Dual power and memory seats
  • Fully Fabric seats
  • Rear side airbags (some local cars have this, but most have the curtains only)

Then, after driving this monster for around 6months, I got 1 feeling that makes me wanna modified my car or can say upgrade the exterior same as like w204 C63. At first I wanna get the Black Series bodykit but heard a lot of advice that the widebody was not that good for maintenance. So I decided on doing my car like what I draw myself previously(but threw away the quotation)

The Mercedes-Benz W204 C200 came with an in-built premium 6 CD in-dash changer with a 6-speaker set up complete with the then-new MB Command APS controller. A lit and cooled glove compartment which by the way also housed a 12V socket and an auxiliary port for you to connect your iPod or other external devices. It had rear electric sun blinds (still works flawlessly to this day). Ambient lights in the front footwells and all switches were backlit as well. Not to mention availability of features like auto self-levelling HID headlights, directional spot lights that moved with the steering direction, auto wiper activation, ABS, EBD, ESC, 6 airbags, dual zone climate control with rear air conditioning vents. Finally, it also has cruise control and a speed limiter if so needed. All four doors have puddle lamps and courtesy lights as well. The trunk is capacious, flat and square. What I can say is this car is affordable and reasonable as is very spacious and long distance drive is very comfortable.

Rating:

Total everything: 9/10

Performance: 9/10

Quality:9/10

Ride comfort:10/10

Fuel economy:9/10

Price: 9/10

Lastly, for a daily driven car. This Mercedes-Benz W204 C200 will be the best choice I made in my life that it really makes me happy and comfortable for long drives. Speed also is not a problem ya as it is quite fast after u upgrade ur engine.

Toyota's Kinto is getting bored, finds a way to make the AH30 Alphard and Vellfire sliding doors close faster

You know how some cars can be truly fantastic except for one minor detail that you just can’t overlook and it ends up ruining the entire driving experience. It could be a terrible head unit or a bad seating position. Well, some of the engineers at Toyota’s Kinto subscription service thought that could be the abysmally slow speed of the sliding doors on the previous AH30 generation of the Toyota Alphard and Vellfire. Either that or they must be getting really bored over there. Or someone has secr
