New electric MINI Cooper SE launched in Malaysia, from RM 218,380 only

MINI Malaysia has launched the all-electric MINI Cooper SE. Starting at RM218,370.78, the Mini Cooper SE is a stylish electric car that share a similar powerplant with the BMW i3s.

The difference between the MINI Cooper SE and the BMW i3s would be the fact that the MINI is front-wheel-drive while the BMW is rear-wheel-drive.

Assembled in Oxford, the electric MINI is a city electric car with a battery 28.9 kWh battery capacity, just a tad below the 35.5 kWh battery capacity of the Honda E. On the WLTP cycle the MINI Cooper SE manages a 234 km range.

Charging is done via an 11kW AC charging (100% charge in 3.5 hours; 80% charge in 2.5 hours). DC Fast Charging can be done at a maximum rate of 50kW (80% charge in 36 minutes). The MINI Cooper SE uses a Type 2 connector for AC Charging and a CCS 2 connector for DC Fast Charging.

The motor of the new MINI Cooper SE mobilises a maximum output of 184 PS. Its maximum torque of 270 Nm is already available from standstill, as is characteristic of electric motors. The new MINI Cooper SE accelerates from 0-100 km/h in just 7.3 seconds.

For safety purposes, all components of the electric drive are protected by means of model-specific structural features and immediately switched off in the event of a collision.

There are four driving modes to choose from in the MINI Cooper SE – Sport, MID, GREEN, and GREEN+. The MINI is also equipped with one-pedal feeling or regenerative brake, which sees the vehicle perceptibly decelerate once the driver removes their foot from the accelerator (Like the Nissan Leaf).

The MINI Cooper SE is fitted as standard with LED headlamps and 17-inch light alloy wheels wrapped with run flat tyres.

Toyota's Kinto is getting bored, finds a way to make the AH30 Alphard and Vellfire sliding doors close faster

You know how some cars can be truly fantastic except for one minor detail that you just can’t overlook and it ends up ruining the entire driving experience. It could be a terrible head unit or a bad seating position. Well, some of the engineers at Toyota’s Kinto subscription service thought that could be the abysmally slow speed of the sliding doors on the previous AH30 generation of the Toyota Alphard and Vellfire. Either that or they must be getting really bored over there. Or someone has secr
