The electric Proton Tiara was Citroën’s first production electric car

We’ve seen various attempts at innovation by Proton such as the Arena, Juara, and Savvy. As an automaker, Proton is actually quite young considering Hyundai was founded in 1967 and Volkswagen was founded pre-World War 2. Proton was founded in 1983. Now, one car you might remember from Proton is the Proton Tiara. It was an oddball since it was Proton’s only collaboration with a French automaker. The Tiara had a 1.1 L 4-cylinder engine that only made 57 PS of maximum power. The transmission was a

The first-ever steering wheel was invented by Mercedes-Benz for racing

The very first automobile in the world made by Carl Benz in 1886 didn’t even have a steering wheel, it was just a lever. It wasn’t until nearly a decade later the steering wheel came about. So let’s rewind and take a step back into the history of steering wheels in Mercedes-Benz, before it was even named as such. In 1886, the aforementioned first car in the world was only equipped with a simple steering lever because at the time, carriage drivers were used to pulling right or left to direct the

Here are supposedly the official photos of the BMW iX3 leaked ahead of its debut. And as you can tell, it looks almost identical to the concept. A closer look at the new Nissan Serena e-Power that we are not getting

In Malaysia, the Nissan Serena is offered exclusively with the 2.0-litre S-Hybrid (Nissan’s term for mild hybrids) engine. In Japan, Nissan also offers another hybrid option for the Serena, the e-Power variant. The e-Power unit uses a 1.2-litre three cylinder engine, sounds tiny for a such a large car but that’s the whole point. While the Serena S-Hybrid relies mostly on the 2.0-litre petrol engine, aided by 2.6 PS electric motor, the Serena e-Power’s priority is the opposite. It uses a much mor

MINI renames the ‘Corona Spoke’ wheel for electric MINI SE

The MINI SE features a wheel design named the ‘Corona Spoke’, which wasn’t an issue when it was coined. Now though, the term ‘corona’ has a stigma to it due to obvious reasons. So, MINI has decided to rename it to ‘Power Spoke’. And quite aptly so, as the wheel does resemble our power socket, which is also the one used in the UK. With MINI being a British brand, well, it just clicks. A MINI spokesperson told CarBuzz, “This was done to ensure Mini remains sensitive to all those experiencing the w

Is the road tax actually cheaper for electric cars in Malaysia?

We’ve seen the launch of the Porsche Taycan and the MINI Cooper SE in Malaysia this year. They were surprisingly priced lower than our expectations. The MINI Cooper SE has a price tag of RM 218,380 and the Taycan 4S starts at RM 725,000. We did expect the MINI to be priced lower than the BMW i3s, but the Taycan is cheaper in Malaysia than it is in Thailand. The “low” price of these cars could be a result of the 10% excise tax on all electric cars as opposed to 60% to 105% for ICE cars. When we t
