Around 30k units of all-new 2022 Honda HR-V booked in Malaysia, 70% registered are turbo

The all-new 2022 Honda HR-V has certainly been the talk of the whole country ever since it was launched in July. It has a waiting list that stretches around a year but as of September, close to 7,000 units have been registered in Malaysia.

This was revealed at the local media drive of the all-new HR-V and the most popular variant is the turbocharged 1.5 V which accounts for 52% of the registration. The turbocharged VTEC engine (181 PS/240 Nm) is also offered in the 1.5 E which takes up 18% of the total registration.

Turbo power is clearly the most preferred option of the three engine options offered for the HR-V in Malaysia with 70% of buyers choosing them over the naturally-aspirated 1.5 S (18%) and the hybrid-powered 1.5 RS (12%).

The 1.5-litre i-VTEC engine in the base S variant makes 121 PS/145 Nm while the top-of-the-range RS is powered by a 1.5-litre e:HEV hybrid that churns out 131 PS/253 Nm (motor only). The petrol units are paired to a CVT automatic while the hybrid is mated to an e-CVT.

Honda Malaysia also remarked that there are close to 30,000 bookings of the all-new HR-V as of September.

Malaysia is the only market in the entire world that offers 3 engine options for the all-new HR-V. Prices (Peninsular Malaysia, without insurance) for the four variants are as shown below:

• HR-V 1.5 S – RM 114,800
• HR-V 1.5 E – RM 129,800
• HR-V 1.5 V – RM 134,800
• HR-V 1.5 RS – RM 140,800
