At the ongoing Auto China 2020, Honda unveiled the Honda CR-V Sport Hybrid e+, the first Honda model in China to feature a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain.
Set to go on sale in January 2021, the Honda CR-V Sport Hybrid e+ is powered by Honda’s two-motor i-MMD hybrid powertrain. Honda says that the i-MMD hybrid powertrain delivers the “most EV-like feel in virtually all areas for everyday driving, including driving performance, responsiveness and quietness.”
Press release jargons aside, the China-market CR-V Sport Hybrid e+ gets a 2.0-litre Atkinson cycle petrol engine mated to an electric motor. Codenamed LFB-13, the petrol-electric hybrid powertrain is good for a combined system output of 184 PS, whilst returning 4.9-litre/100 km.
For the Chinese market, the Honda CR-V Sport Hybrid e+ is available across six variants, with prices starting from CNY 209,800.
Also at Auto China is the Honda SUV e:concept – a concept that previews the future of EVs to be introduced in China.
Closer to home, Honda Malaysia has previewed the all-new 2020 Honda City RS, featuring a sophisticated two-motor i-MMD powertrain. Read more about it here.
