Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV launching in Malaysia on Friday, plus another EV by year's end - EQE SUV?

Referenced briefly in the Budget 2024 commentary, Amanda Zhang, the President and CEO of Mercedes-Benz Malaysia, highlighted the company's increasing momentum and revealed the imminent launch of the Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV, happening this Friday on 20-October.

β€œOur momentum continues to grow, as we eagerly anticipate the arrival of the EQS SUV this Friday, with plans to launch another all-electric model before year end. These efforts underscore our dedication to providing innovative electric vehicles and contributing to a more sustainable future for our customers in Malaysia,” she said.

Globally, there are three variants of the EQS SUV. The entry-level EQS 450+ is equipped with a rear motor, providing 360 PS and 568 Nm of torque. Stepping up, the EQS 450 4Matic boasts a front motor for all-wheel-drive, delivering a combined power of 360 PS and 800 Nm.

At the top of the range, the EQS 580 4Matic features a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive configuration, delivering 544 PS and 858 Nm.

All three variants come with a 107.8 kWh lithium-ion battery The EQS 450+ with rear-wheel drive achieves the longest range, covering up to 660 km based on the WLTP cycle. Meanwhile, both the EQS 450 4Matic and EQS 580 4Matic can travel up to 613 km on a single charge.

Charging options for the EQS SUV include a standard 11 kW on-board AC charger, taking about 10 hours for a full charge. An optional 22 kW AC charger is also available, reducing the charging time to five hours. It supports up to 200 kW of DC fast charging, allowing a 10-80 percent state of charge in 31 minutes.

As for the other all-electric model, since most of the mainstream EQ models have already been launched in Malaysia, all signs point towards the Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV.

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has initiated the registration of interest (ROI) for the Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV. While specific variants and specifications are yet to be disclosed, globally, there are three EQE SUV variants (non-AMG): EQE 350+, EQE 350 4Matic, EQE 500 4Matic.

The base EQE 350+ variant features a rear-mounted electric motor with 292 PS and 565 Nm. The all-wheel-drive EQE 350 4Matic increases output to 292 PS and 765 Nm, while the top-tier EQE 500 4Matic offers 408 PS and 858 Nm.

All EQE variants are equipped with a 90.6 kWh battery pack, providing a maximum WLTP range of up to 590 km (EQE 350+).

Charging options for the EQE SUV include standard 11 kW AC charging (with an optional 22 kW), along with 170 kW DC fast charging.

With the year's end only a couple of months away, it won’t be long until we see its introduction here. Stay tuned to WapCar.my for the latest updates on these additions to the Mercedes-Benz EQ lineup.
