[VS] Ford Ranger excels Nissan Navara
76
Last week, we witnessed the launch of the 2021 Nissan Navara facelift. It's been 6 years since the model first launched, and the facelift is very much a welcome one among pickup truck aficionados.
Courtesy of our Thai colleagues at Autofun, we have live photos of the Mother Trucker to share with you here!
Nissan offers 14 (7 single- and 7 double-cab) variants of the Navara in the Land of Smiles, but you're looking at the range-topping Pro-4X 4WD here.
It looks very modern - not too much plastic cladding to give off a 'I'm very tough!' vibe, but just smooth enough to be a truck that you can take on a night out (but please do it post-CMCO).
All variants get these LED head lamps with LED daytime running lights (DRLs) that flank the V-Motion family face the Navara wears. The black front bumper and grille is exclusive to the Pro-4X variant.
The rear has been redesigned a touch as well and now features LED tail lights with a signature pattern.
The Pro-4X variant also gets these 17-inch wheels wrapped in 255/65R17 Yokohoma Geolandar all-terrain tyres. Pretty good tyres, and the SUV-specific one is in our recommended tyres list.
The cabin gets the new Nissan family steering wheel, as seen in the the all-new Nissan Almera. There's an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment screen that supports Apple CarPlay/Android Auto and also displays whatever's seen by the 360-degree cameras.
The Navara has three turbodiesel engine choices:
Gearboxes are a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed automatic. Depending on variant, the Navara comes in either 2WD or 4WD configurations.
The Navara now features a host of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) that bundles:
In Malaysia, we still have the pre-facelift versions on sale, with prices starting from RM 98,888 for the SE variant to RM 129,888 for the range-topping VL Plus variant.
The new Navara is expected to be launched here sometime in 2021 and judging by the stuff it has, expect prices to see a slight increase.
