Video: PERMANENT FIX for our Perodua Ativa rattling noise and first oil change! Long term review #14

It’s been 6 months since we’ve collected our 2021 Perodua Ativa and according to the Ativa’s service interval, we are due for an oil change.

Our Ativa is back at Perodua Sg. Penchala for a minor service which includes an oil change, and general inspection. When booking for our appointment, the service centre notified us that they now have a permanent fix for our brake drum rattling issue. This repair is also scheduled for this visit.

We have clocked slightly over 8,500 km on the odometer but Perodua advises a service interval of every 6 months or 10,000 km (whichever comes first).

The fine print “whichever comes first” is extremely important because if you do not send your car in for a service during the stipulated interval, you may risk having your warranty voided and we don’t want that.

The estimated pricing table posted on Perodua’s official website for the Ativa's 10,000 km service is RM160.50. Note that the extra RM0.80 in our bill is due to the difference in the drain plug gasket.

The whole service process from signing in to collecting the car took only 45 minutes. A very efficient process considering this also includes repairing our brake drum rattling issue and a test drive.

Overall, Perodua once again proves that maintaining a car with highly advanced features do not have to come at a premium. In fact, the total 5-year/100,000 km service cost for the Ativa is cheaper than a Myvi.
