4 months wait list for 2022 Perodua Myvi AV facelift, deliveries to speed up in 2022

You won’t be able to flaunt your new 2022 Perodua Myvi facelift to the office Christmas party if you placed an order for one now.

Answering the media at the Myvi facelift press drive, Dato’ Zainal Abidin Ahmad, President and CEO of Perodua said that waitlist for the range-topping Perodua Myvi AV (RM58,800 OTR without insurance & SST) stretches to 4 months.

Is it worth the wait?

As of 2 December 2021, Perodua has accumulated 14,600 orders for the Myvi facelift, of which 7,189 orders were converted from bookings of the pre-facelift model.

Perodua aims to fulfil outstanding orders of customers who have booked the Myvi from May to July and promise to deliver their cars by December 2021.

"We wish to apologise for the delay in delivery and thank all our customers for their support and patience, especially in the most challenging year so far,” Dato’ Zainal said.

Production at their Rawang plant is going into overdrive for the month of December to meet customer demands and has assured that semiconductor supply is not an issue for the remaining year of 2021.

However, Perodua understands going into overdrive is not a sustainable solution for the long term. As such measures are in place to reduce takt time (rate needed to complete a product to meet customer demand) by 20% from the current 1.45 to 1.2. This means that customer wait time is shorter.

Perodua has identified the bottleneck in the production line is at the painting stage because of the variety of models that goes through it. Each model will have different painting procedures and curing times. They are studying ways to speed up the process without affecting quality.

Dato’ Zainal has promised a clearer strategy will be revealed in January 2022 and said that they are working on delivering as many cars as they can before the Penjana SST waiver ends in June 2022.
