UMW Group upbeat about 2023's targets: Combined sales of Perodua and Toyota is up 12% for H1 2023

After ending the first half of 2023 with healthy order banks for both Perodua and Toyota, the UMW Group is upbeat about its associate companies meeting their respective 2023 targets – 314,000 units for Perodua and 93,000 units for Toyota.

Toyota ended the first half of 2023 with 48,659 units registered, up 6 percent from the same 6-month period last year. Toyota and Lexus ended the month of June with 8,004 units registered, up 8 percent from May.

The Toyota Vios, Corolla Cross, and Hilux are the company’s best sellers – in that order.

Perodua registered 144,690 units, up 14 percent from last year. June’s number came in at 22,553 units, 9 percent lower than May as the company’s two Rawang plants were closed for one week for Hari Raya.

Perodua’s top selling models were the Bezza, followed by the Myvi and Axia.

Toyota's and Perodua's combined numbers come up to 193,349 units, or 12 percent up from the same 6-month period last year.

UMW Holdings Berhad President and Group CEO, Dato’ Ahmad Fuaad Kenali said, “We are pleased with the encouraging sales registered by both UMWT and Perodua in June 2023. For the first six months of 2023, both companies have also registered higher sales compared with the same period of 2022. The introduction of competitive and exciting new models helped to drive sales in the first half of 2023.
