The new Perodua Myvi facelift for 2022 - all the important things to know

Within a 9-day period since the new Perodua Myvi facelift was unveiled, Perodua has received more than four thousand bookings for their popular hatchback. Five variants are on offer, priced from RM45,700 to RM58,800.

Though prices have increased from the pre-facelift models, equipment levels have followed along and are similarly raised.

New Perodua Myvi facelift for 2022 – the engine

The new 2022 Perodua Myvi facelift is available with a D-CVT (short for Dual-mode CVT) only, which replaces the manual transmission and the 4-speed automatic transmission. This transmission is paired to the same engines, the 1.3-litre 1NR-VE (95 PS/121 Nm) and 1.5-litre 2NR-VE (103 PS/137 Nm).

Perodua claims 5% lower fuel consumption with this new D-CVT, and official fuel consumption figures are 22.2 km/litre (4.5 l/100km) for the 1.3-litre engine and 21.1 km/litre (4.7 l/100km) for the 1.5-litre.

This is despite more expedient century sprint times of 11.5 seconds and 10.2 seconds for the 1.3-litre and 1.5-litre powerplants, which is 20% quicker than the pre-facelift model.

New Perodua Myvi facelift for 2022 – exterior design

For the new Perodua Myvi facelift, the most obvious update is the redesigned front bumpers that also houses DRLs in the 1.5 H and 1.5 AV variants. The front grille is larger too, and the headlamps have been redesigned as well.

The differences in the side profile is subtler, as seen in the gloss black side mirror caps, whereas the dual-tone 15-inch wheels are the same, shod in 185/55 tyres.

Finally, at the rear, the bumper replicates the vertical slats motif that is seen on the front bumper.

There are six body colours available to the new 2022 facelift Perodua Myvi. They are Glittering Silver, Ivory White, Granite Grey, Lava Red, Electric Blue, and the new Cranberry Red is only available in the Perodua Myvi 1.5 AV (in place of the Lava Red).

New Perodua Myvi facelift for 2022 – interior design

There are less changes inside than the out. The new steering wheel is pinched off of the Perodua Ativa but with a rearranged button layout, there’s a larger infotainment screen at 6.9-inch vs the old 6.2-inch, a new instrument cluster, and a revised gear shift pattern.

As for the range-topping Perodua Myvi 1.5 AV, red accents are added around the air vents and the seats. The seats themselves are bound in a new leather for the Perodua Myvi 1.5 AV, while the rest of the range gets new fabric ones.

New Perodua Myvi facelift for 2022 – new features

All the 1.5-litre variants get a power mode switch on the steering wheel that sharpens the powertrain, together with automatic folding side mirrors and a welcome light. All variants get a new automatic door lock, which is triggered when the vehicle exceeds 20 km/h.

New Perodua Myvi facelift for 2022 – upgraded ADAS aka PSDA

The top-of-the-range Perodua Myvi 1.5 AV gets an upgraded ADAS suite that is called Perodua Smart Drive Assist (PSDA). The previous suite was known as ASA (Advanced Safety Assist), and it is now parked under the new PSDA.

PSDA has four features: ASA, Driving Assist, Parking Assist, and Headlamp Assist. According to Perodua, this means the new 2022 facelift Perodua Myvi has Level 2 semi-autonomous driving.

Just like before, ASA consists of Pre-Collision Warning, Pre-Collision Braking, Front Departure Alert, and Pedal Misoperation Control, while Driving Assist has Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Lane Departure Prevention (LDP), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Lane Keep Control (LKC), and Blind Spot Monitor (BSM).

As for Parking Assist, it’s a package of front and rear corner sensors, reverse camera, and Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA) while Headlamp Assist only includes Auto High Beam (AHB).

The 1.3 G, 1.5 X, and the 1.5 H gets ASA with LDW and LDP, while the entry level 1.3 G does with any ADAS.
