Frankfurt 2019: All-new fourth gen Honda Jazz coming in 2020, hybrid-only for Europe

At the opening of the 2019 Frankfurt International Motor Show, Honda hosted the world premiere of the Honda e, a fully electric hatchback that will go on sale in Europe (only) first half of 2020, priced below a Nissan Leaf.

Aside from that, Honda also gave slip some preliminary information regarding the all-new Honda Jazz. First launched in 2014, the Honda Jazz is due for a replacement soon.

Tom Gardner, Senior Vice-President of Honda Motor Europe said, “In 2020, Honda will launch the next generation Jazz and today, we can confirm that this model will be introduced into Europe with hybrid technology as the sole powertrain option.”

The hybrid-only line-up for the next generation Jazz is in-line with the company’s commitment to electrify 100 percent of its European model line-up by 2025.

As expected, Honda did not reveal any further information but you can expect more details to be announced at October’s Tokyo Motor Show.

We also expect Japan to follow a similar hybrid-only line-up but North America and the rest of Asia are expected to continue to offer regular combustion engine variants, as well as the hybrid.

Recall that up until now, Malaysia is the only country outside of Japan to offer the Jazz Hybrid. We are also the only country outside of Japan to assemble any compact Honda hybrid models, which currently includes the City Hybrid, Jazz Hybrid and HR-V Hybrid.

Whether will this continue into the next generation of Honda models is hard to say, as our government has yet to give any commitments regarding the continuation of the current tax incentives for locally-assembled energy efficient vehicles (EEVs). Remember that announcement of the new National Automotive Policy has been delayed for almost a year.

Toyota's Kinto is getting bored, finds a way to make the AH30 Alphard and Vellfire sliding doors close faster

You know how some cars can be truly fantastic except for one minor detail that you just can’t overlook and it ends up ruining the entire driving experience. It could be a terrible head unit or a bad seating position. Well, some of the engineers at Toyota’s Kinto subscription service thought that could be the abysmally slow speed of the sliding doors on the previous AH30 generation of the Toyota Alphard and Vellfire. Either that or they must be getting really bored over there. Or someone has secr

Review: BYD Dolphin in Malaysia - A solid choice for EV beginners, except for one thing

You might be aware that Malaysia prohibits the import of electric vehicles (EVs) priced below RM 100,000, and this is indeed accurate. The rationale behind this policy, driven by the Ministry of Investment, Trade, and Industry (MITI), is actually sound when you consider their goal of attracting investments in the EV sector. In the world of technology, most of the valuable stuff is in the higher-end product range. Cheaper electric cars have minimal technological sophistication; they're kind of li
