Launched: New 2020 Isuzu D-Max Stealth limited to 180 units in Malaysia - Starts at RM 126k

After posting a teaser earlier this week, Isuzu Malaysia has finally unveiled the limited-edition 2020 Isuzu D-Max Stealth. Only 180 units of this special D-Max will be made. This imposing and aggressive-looking truck is decked with all kinds of features that make it stand out and manoeuvre easily in the urban jungle.

The D-Max Stealth is based on the 1.9 4x4 Premium Automatic which is powered by the reliable 1.9-litre Ddi Blue Power engine. Power output for the engine is 150 PS/350 Nm and is mated to a 6-speed automatic.

On the outside, Isuzu has replaced some of the chrome trims of the regular D-Max with blackened parts including the front grille, roof rails, and rear bumper as well as the headlamp, fog lamp, and bumper garnish.

The front grille also features a fine silver accent line that flows across the front with a matching line that runs through the front spoiler. Adding to its sporty exclusivity are special two-tone 18-inch alloy rims with an embossed Stealth emblem. Stealth decals on the doors and tailgate give further reminders to people on the outside to not mistake this for a normal D-Max. Stealth it sure ain’t but it definitely looks badass.

But one feature that is definitely stealthy on this truck is its retractable side steps. The D-Max Stealth is the first pick-up truck in the local market to offer this as standard. When the doors are closed, the side steps stow neatly away under the body. Open any of the doors and the side steps deploy gently while a welcome light below lights up automatically to assist getting into the truck.

Step foot inside and you are greeted with striking red and black combination seats which are made of a mix of premium leather and fabric. Stealth logos are also stitched onto the seats to again remind you that you are in an exclusive truck. The stealth vibe continues on the dashboard which has piano black trims and dark grey headlining fills the roof of the cabin. Meanwhile, the regular Premium variant has silver trims on the dash.

Since this is marketed as a premium urban truck, the D-Max Stealth features a pair of digital video recorders (DVR) at the front and rear. The DVRs also have motion detectors that allow the camera to start recording even when the truck is parked if they sense movement or an imminent impact.

Also available as standard is a 360-degree view camera which Isuzu calls the Around View Monitor with 3D Image Guide. This is guided by 4 cameras that are placed around the truck and gives the driver a choice of a bird's eye view or 3D view when selecting reverse. There are also additional front parking sensors which can be manually switched on or off when the driver is over low hazards or off-roading.

There are 2 colours available for the D-Max Stealth which are Stallion Black Metallic and Silky White Pearl. Isuzu announced that only 180 units will be available nationwide. It comes with a 7-year unlimited mileage warranty and prices start from RM 125,799.20 (OTR without insurance).

Early-bird buyers of the D-Max Stealth who register during the month of August will be entitled to a free sports roll bar or opt to purchase a T-Lid Cover (worth RM 5,500) for only RM 2,000. So, is your curiosity piqued with the D-Max Stealth? We covered the regular 1.9-litre D-Max in our review here if you want to know what it feels like to drive.

Toyota's Kinto is getting bored, finds a way to make the AH30 Alphard and Vellfire sliding doors close faster

You know how some cars can be truly fantastic except for one minor detail that you just can’t overlook and it ends up ruining the entire driving experience. It could be a terrible head unit or a bad seating position. Well, some of the engineers at Toyota’s Kinto subscription service thought that could be the abysmally slow speed of the sliding doors on the previous AH30 generation of the Toyota Alphard and Vellfire. Either that or they must be getting really bored over there. Or someone has secr
