The Sales and Service Tax (SST) exemption/discount for new cars has been extended to 31-December 2021. This means buyers of locally-assembled (CKD) cars will be exempted from paying the 10 percent sales tax upon purchase. However, do note that other taxes like excise and import duties still apply.

That said, the SST exemption does not apply to vehicles like commercial vans and pick-up trucks as those already have excise duty relief.

Hi, Am one of the customer whom made the X50 booking. Booked on October. Till date still no news. Am a bit worried bout those who made late registration can be charge SST. Few more days to go. I've decide to let go my booking. I don't want to become the victim of unfulfilled promised by Proton. I feel cheeted. Why should I pay for the SST. Its not my mistake of Proton late deliveries. GOV should allow the free SST to those who make the booking before 31st no matter how late their registration.

Got this during the 0% tax gst and sst change period. Saved me a lot of money. The car now is 2 years and close to 50k km on the mileage. Very happy with it.
