Reasons why I bought this car

I wanted something that handles well on roads, and at the same time joyful to drive as this is my daily commuter.

Car selection process

The reason why I choose this car

The car ticks the right boxes for me. Peace of mind, free maintenance, brilliant handling, good build quality, fuel efficient, reliability, good looks, rather luxurious etc.

User experience

I have already done 48000 km. My average fuel consumption is 7.0L/100km.

I just love driving it. Being a compact crossover coupled with Mazda's handling and GVC, the car feels composed around bends. The 18" wheels and short suspension travel of the stock units were also the factors. Despite its capability, I would still be wary if the roads are wet.

During pre-covid 2019, I went on a roadtrip with a friend to Songkhla,Thailand from KL - approx 800 km total distance; three months after taking delivery of the car. Fuel efficiency of the Skyactiv engine prevailed as the CX-3's tankful of petrol needed a refill at the Malaysia-Thailand border of Bukit Kayu Hitam. I did 140 km/h average on the highway and there was a bar left on the fuel gauge upon reaching the border. As a daily, driving experience was never fall short albeit the ride is on the harsher side.

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Brilliant handling
  • Fuel efficient
  • Interior fitment is sturdy and rattle-free despite usage of cheap plastics in some parts. Probably the anchoring points of the joints are where they are supposed to
  • Bright LED lights
  • Well-equipped although the infotainment system feels dated

Cons

  • The engine noise is intrusive when pushed hard
  • Ride can be fidgety
  • Impractical interior

Summary

I reckon that the benefits of owning this car still outweighs its drawbacks. That being said, I am going to keep it much longer, hopefully as lengthy as my first car Perodua Kelisa of which I had it for 12 years.

Some interesting events

Nothing much, but up until today, whenever I send my car for a carwash, many would get confused and ask me as to what colour of my car really is. It is called Ceramic Metallic appeared to be nardo-ish colour of white shade.
