At the sidelines of the 2022 Proton X70 facelift (MC1), we've learnt that the update also increases the percentage of local content in the car - now standing at 70 percent.
This is a substantial increase over the 45 percent of the initial CKD model that was first launched in 2020.
A big contributor to this bump is its three-cylinder mill. Plucked from the X50, the 1.5-litre turbocharged engine (177 PS/255 Nm) is locally-assembled, though the 1.8-litre engine remains for the highest variant.
Other updates to the X70 include new 18- and 19-inch wheels, and gloss black trimmings on the front fog light surrounds, grille, and rear trim pieces.
Along with that the AWD variant has returned. SST-exempt prices for the 2022 Proton X70 facelift are as below, valid until 30-June 2022:
