The 2023 D74A Perodua Axia is characterised by a spec-sheet that's never-before-seen in its category in Malaysia. Never mind its powertrain, the real headliner is the rich safety features that's crammed into its tiny body.
6 airbags, and Perodua Smart Drive Assist (PSDA) ADAS are what's fitted to the range-topping 1.0 AV model, in addition to the standard VSC (vehicle stability control) that's on every variant.
Impressive as it is that these are now available on an Axia, it also spells a future trend for Perodua cars – especially one that could be coming next year.

Recall that its platform mate, the Perodua Bezza is getting on a little old now, tracing back to 2016. Everything else in Perodua's line-up has been refreshed, but the Saga-baiting sedan just hasn't been yet.
Naturally, an all-new Bezza is estimated to be introduced in 2024, and it's not far-fetched to say that it could get the same suite of safety features as the Axia. When this happens, in essence it means that stability control, 6 airbags, and ADAS will be available across all Perodua models.
Of course, we're still a ways away from a completely rejuvenated Bezza, and the old one is still on sale from RM 34,580 to RM 49,980. In the meantime, the all-new Axia sits pretty in the limelight, with bookings for the model already open today.
