It’s official, the Mazda 3 is the world’s most beautiful car

Nobody's surprised here and nobody is going to argue with the verdict of the panel of judges – the C-segment Mazda 3 has just been crowned the 2020 World Car Design of the Year.

Among the experts on the panel are Gordon Murray (McLaren F1), Ian Callum (all recent Jaguars), Patrick le Quément (Renault Avantime), and Shiro Nakamura (Isuzu Vehicross, Nissan Cube).

“Before accepting this prize, Mazda Motor Corporation would like to express our sympathy for all of those affected by the novel coronavirus,” said Akira Marumoto, Representative Director, President and CEO, Mazda Motor Corporation. “We are truly honored to be able to receive the World Car Design of the Year award in this special year marking the 100th anniversary of Mazda’s foundation. We will continue providing our customers with unique products, designs, technologies and experiences.”

The Mazda 3’s excellence in design was judged seven prominent names in car design who are either teaching industrial design or retired car designers who now run their own design consultancy:

Anne Asensio (France), Vice-President, Design - Dassault Systemes

Gernot Bracht (Germany), Pforzheim Design School

Ian Callum (United Kingdom), ex-Aston Martin and Jaguar, current Director of Design, CALLUM

Patrick le Quément (France), ex-Renault, current Designer and President of the Strategy Committee - The Sustainable Design School

Tom Matano (USA), School of Industrial Design at Academy of Art University in San Francisco

Gordon Murray (U.K), Gordon Murray Design

Shiro Nakamura (Japan), ex-Nissan, current CEO, Shiro Nakamura Design Associates Inc

Toyota's Kinto is getting bored, finds a way to make the AH30 Alphard and Vellfire sliding doors close faster

You know how some cars can be truly fantastic except for one minor detail that you just can’t overlook and it ends up ruining the entire driving experience. It could be a terrible head unit or a bad seating position. Well, some of the engineers at Toyota’s Kinto subscription service thought that could be the abysmally slow speed of the sliding doors on the previous AH30 generation of the Toyota Alphard and Vellfire. Either that or they must be getting really bored over there. Or someone has secr

You might be aware that Malaysia prohibits the import of electric vehicles (EVs) priced below RM 100,000, and this is indeed accurate.
