2019 Mazda CX-5 2.5 Turbo WapCar Ratings results, 166.5/250 score, superb performance

We've examined the 2019 Mazda CX-5 2.5 Turbo in detail from its exterior panel gaps, interior space to fuel consumption in our WapCar Ratings. Here's an overview of all our tests.

With 230 PS at its disposal, the CX-5 2.5 Turbo is the most SUV in the segment. Being a Mazda, it also has unrivaled handling prowess but at the slight tradeoff of ride comfort. NVH levels in this latest generation CX-5 is comparable to rivals of the segment.

Being the range-topping variant, the CX-5 2.5 Turbo comes with all the bells and whistles as well as partial ADAS. While the build quality and cabin materials are exceptional, when compared to the new-generation Mazda 3, the CX-5's interior feels a little underwhelming.

Not the most spacious nor practical interior in the segment, but the seats are very supportive for long journeys.

The results are nothing impressive however remember that this is a 2.5-litre turbocharged SUV with 230 PS and all-wheel-drive.

The 2.5 Turbo is the most expensive CX-5 variant on sale, retailing at RM 181,660 (OTR without insurance). Road tax is not cheap either at RM 830.40 (peninsular Malaysia) for its 2.5-litre capacity engine. However, the plus side is that Bermaz Motors offers a 5-Years Free Maintenance package inclusive of parts and labour cost.

Overall, the Mazda CX-5 2.5 Turbo excels in terms of driving performance, handling, and interior build. It will certainly appeal to buyers looking for an SUV that is exciting to drive yet good enough for family duties.

Toyota's Kinto is getting bored, finds a way to make the AH30 Alphard and Vellfire sliding doors close faster

You know how some cars can be truly fantastic except for one minor detail that you just can’t overlook and it ends up ruining the entire driving experience. It could be a terrible head unit or a bad seating position. Well, some of the engineers at Toyota’s Kinto subscription service thought that could be the abysmally slow speed of the sliding doors on the previous AH30 generation of the Toyota Alphard and Vellfire. Either that or they must be getting really bored over there. Or someone has secr

Review: BYD Dolphin in Malaysia - A solid choice for EV beginners, except for one thing

You might be aware that Malaysia prohibits the import of electric vehicles (EVs) priced below RM 100,000, and this is indeed accurate. The rationale behind this policy, driven by the Ministry of Investment, Trade, and Industry (MITI), is actually sound when you consider their goal of attracting investments in the EV sector. In the world of technology, most of the valuable stuff is in the higher-end product range. Cheaper electric cars have minimal technological sophistication; they're kind of li
