The Proton Persona (and Iriz too) will be receiving yet another update, having last been refreshed in 2019. This set of photos from Automachi allows us a sneak peek at the facelifted 2021 Persona.
Cosmetic changes are new 16-inch, dual-tone wheels (the current range only gets 15-inch units), and a redesigned front bumper.
There's a set of nice LED headlights as well, but it remains to be seen if it's standard across the range. We can't really tell from these pictures, but keep those fingers crossed for improved tail lights too.
The interior sees a complete departure from the current model. Chief among the changes are the swathes of brown leather, and a revised centre stack that has new air-cond controls that looks somewhat like the Proton X50's. This looks to be shared with the Iriz as well.
Sitting just above that are redesigned air-cond vents, and a floating-style touchscreen head unit. There's likely no Android Auto or Apple CarPlay support, but QD Link (phone mirroring) should still be there.
Beyond that, it looks like there's a new centre console, with added storage space. Oh and look, there's an armrest too!
The 1.6-litre, naturally-aspirated engine (109 PS/150 Nm) is expected to stay as-is. It's the transmission we're interested in, and so far, the source claims that test cars spied on the road are said to be still using the Punch CVT.
Regardless, further details will be made clear as the car inches towards launch. Stay tuned to WapCar.my!
