My Ideal new car- Mazda CX-5

The Mazda 6 and Mazda CX-3 have been confirmed to be discontinued in the US market. Mazda says the decision is based on the evolving consumer interests and added that the company is “proud of the performance, design, quality, and safety they contributed to our brand.”
The current generation Mazda 6 was introduced in late-2012, followed by a mid-cycle facelift in 2017. However, the facelift didn’t help with the declining sales of the Mazda 6 in the US.
As for the Mazda CX-3, it made its debut in the US as a 2016 model. The slightly larger Mazda CX-30 outsold the CX-3 by nearly five-fold in 2020 and is said to have essentially replaced the CX-3.
Car and Driver believes the Mazda 6 could make a return to the US. Based on the current rumour mill, the next generation Mazda 6 is expected to feature an in-line 6-cylinder engine with a FR-layout (front-engine, rear-wheel drive), with the option of all-wheel drive.

And to comply with the ever more stringent emission regulations, the new engine will likely be electrified, with either a 48V mild hybrid setup or a plug-in hybrid.
