Boldest-looking version yet, the 2021 Geely Boyue X debuts in China

At the ongoing 2021 Chengdu Auto Show, Geely has debuted the new 2021 Geely Boyue X – the company’s boldest-looking SUV yet.

Geely has not revealed prices nor positioning of the new Boyue X. Some sources have said that the new Boyue X could replace the regular Boyue, or it could be positioned between the Boyue and the Boyue Pro.

For the new 2021 Geely Boyue X, the Hangzhou-based company has done away with its signature “Expanding Cosmos” front grille, replaced with an all-black fascia with an intricate grille design. Rounding off the front-end are deep inserts at the edge of the bumper.

There are also contrasting orange highlights on front fog light surrounds and along the door trim, while the rear gets a unique bumper with a prominent diffuser piece.

Rounding off the exterior are 19-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 225/55R19 rubbers, with orange-painted brake calipers hiding behind.

Inside, the 2021 Geely Boyue X gets a blue-and-white-themed interior finish. Upper parts of the dashboard are finished in blue, while the middle part gets a while finishing. It also gets paddle shifters for that added sporty feel. Geely also offers a red-and-black finishing for the Boyue X.

The 2021 Geely Boyue X is the third model in Geely’s line-up to receive the new Geely Milky Way infotainment software, offering Huawei HiCar connectivity – essentially Huawei’s alternative to Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The Boyue X also offers a 12-speaker Bose sound system.

It’s business as usual in the powertrain department. The Boyue X will be powered by the same 1.8-litre turbocharged petrol engine (184 PS, 300 Nm) as the Proton X70. The engine is mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
