That was fast! 10,000th Geely Boyue L rolls out of the factory 43 days since production started

Despite being 22 percent more expensive than the previous generation, it seems the all-new 2023 Geely Boyue L is still very popular amongst car buyers. Geely recently rolled out the 10,000th unit from the factory just 43 days after production started.

Like its predecessor, the Boyue L is also assembled at Geely’s high-tech facility in Ningbo, Zhejiang. Production officially started on 20-September-2022 and the 10,000th unit was rolled out on 2-November-2022.

Officially launched on 26-October, the Boyue L has graduated upmarket hence the much more premium look compared to its predecessor. The exterior draws inspiration from Geely’s futuristic concept car known as the Vision Starburst, which explains the spacecraft look.

The interior also bares the same theme with an oblong steering wheel and a massive vertical touchscreen infotainment system. To play up the premium look, the Boyue L’s interior is finished in a choice of brown and grey or black and white.

Just like most models that rolled out of Geely’s garage, the Boyue L is also built on the famed CMA platform. The reminder is embroidered onto the leather seats.

The Boyue L is now larger than ever measuring 4,670 x 1,900 x 2,777 mm in length, width, and height while the wheelbase measures 2,777 mm.

Dimensions
Model Geely Boyue L Proton X70
Length (mm) 4,670 4,519
Width (mm) 1,900 1,831
Height (mm) 1,705 1,694
Wheelbase (mm) 2,777 2,670

Firepower comes from a choice of three engines. The entry-level Boyue L is powered by a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged engine that produces 180 PS and 290 Nm. The mid-range Boyue L comes with a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that produces 218 PS and 325 Nm.

Both engines are mated to a 7-speed DCT. Top speed for the 1.5T is rated at 195 km/h while the larger 2.0T engine is rated at 215 km/h.

Meanwhile, the Boyue L’s range-topping variant is powered by a Hi.F 1.5T Super hybrid engine. The 1.5T 3-cylinder engine alone produces 150 PS and 225 Nm, while the combined output is rated at 245 PS and 545 Nm.

Geely claims that the Hi.F engine is capable of doing 4.2 L/100 km based on the NEDC while the battery range can go up to 1,300 km.

With the price bump and the added premium features, the CMA Boyue L may not become the base of the all-new Proton X70 when it comes time for Proton to introduce a new generation. However, we’re still hanging on to the small sliver of hope that it will still come to Malaysia, watch this space for more updates.
