2019 Mazda CX-5 2.5L turbo AWD launching in Malaysia soon, CKD est. RM 180k

Bermaz Motor has just previewed the Mazda CX-5 2.5L Turbo AWD at their roadshow in Sunway Pyramid. The new CX-5 variant will be officially available at showrooms in the coming weeks and interested parties can catch the car in the metal at the Concourse of Sunway Pyramid this weekend.

Details of the CX-5 2.5L Turbo AWD, including pricing and specifications, are scarce at the moment but the sales personnel have hinted at an estimated price tag of RM 180k. The new SUV variant will be assembled locally (CKD) at Mazda’s Kulim Inokom plant.

Only one variant of the CX-5 will come with the 2.5-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine and it is paired to a 6-speed automatic transmission and i-Activ all-wheel-drive system.

Just like on the CX-9, the engine makes 230 PS and 420 Nm of torque, the latter peaks from 2,000 rpm. Also new is the G-Vectoring Control Plus (GVC Plus) which adds braking intervention to give the car improved stability and comfort.

Notable features on our local-spec CX-5 2.5L Turbo include LED technology for the headlamps, fog lamps, daytime running lights and taillamps and 19-inch alloys wrapped in 225/55 R19 rubbers.

Inside, the cabin gets updated with a windscreen-projected heads-up display, Apple Car Play and Android Auto connectivity and a new instrument cluster with a 7.0-inch digital multi-info display.

Other variants of the CX-5 should also receive these updates as well as the redesigned climate control panel for better tactility.

Toyota's Kinto is getting bored, finds a way to make the AH30 Alphard and Vellfire sliding doors close faster

You know how some cars can be truly fantastic except for one minor detail that you just can’t overlook and it ends up ruining the entire driving experience. It could be a terrible head unit or a bad seating position. Well, some of the engineers at Toyota’s Kinto subscription service thought that could be the abysmally slow speed of the sliding doors on the previous AH30 generation of the Toyota Alphard and Vellfire. Either that or they must be getting really bored over there. Or someone has secr

Review: BYD Dolphin in Malaysia - A solid choice for EV beginners, except for one thing

You might be aware that Malaysia prohibits the import of electric vehicles (EVs) priced below RM 100,000, and this is indeed accurate. The rationale behind this policy, driven by the Ministry of Investment, Trade, and Industry (MITI), is actually sound when you consider their goal of attracting investments in the EV sector. In the world of technology, most of the valuable stuff is in the higher-end product range. Cheaper electric cars have minimal technological sophistication; they're kind of li
