2022 Mazda CX-3 now in Malaysia – price up by RM 1k but adds 8-inch screen, wireless Apple CP, new colour

  • 2022 Mazda CX-3 gains a larger 8-inch touch screen (previous was 7-inch)
  • Adds Wireless Apple CarPlay
  • Price up by RM 1,200

The new 2022 Mazda CX-3 is now available in Malaysia, priced from RM 131,929, valid until 30-June 2022, after which the on-going 50 percent SST discount for imported (CBU) passenger cars will expire.

As before, the Mazda CX-3 is imported (CBU) from Japan.

The new price is about RM 1k more expensive than the 2021 model, but the slight increase in price is justified by a longer list of features, albeit only noticeable once you get inside the car.

The highlight of the new 2022 Mazda CX-3 is its interior.

The previous 7-inch infotainment touch screen has been replaced by a larger 8-inch unit.

Where previous unit supports only wired Apple CarPlay, the new 2022 model supports Wireless Apple CarPlay. Android Auto remains the same as before.

Compatible smartphones can also take advantage of the Qi wireless charger, another new feature added for 2022.

There’s also a 360-degree parking camera, but that was already introduced in the 2021 update.

Like the C-segment new 2022 Mazda 3 and Mazda CX-30, the B-segment 2022 Mazda CX-3 also gains a new Platinum Quartz colour option. The model’s previous Soul Red signature colour will continue to be offered.

Other colours available are Machine Gray, Snowflake White Pearl, Polymetal Gray, and Deep Crystal Blue.

Powertrain remains unchanged. The 2.0-litre naturally aspirated SkyActiv-G 4-cylinder makes 154 hp / 206 Nm, paired to a 6-speed automatic transmission driving the front wheels.

Autonomous emergency braking (SCBS), lane departure warning, blind spot monitor, rear cross-traffic alert, and automatic high beam complements the 6 airbags, hill start assist and ISOFIX.

As before, the Mazda CX-3 is covered by a 5-year / 100,000 km warranty and 5-year / 100,000 km free maintenance, inclusive of labour, parts, and lubricants.
