Following the government’s announcement of the SST exemption grace period which ends on 31-March 2023, Proton Holdings Bhd has announced that it will close its order books if the company is unable to deliver booked vehicles within the stipulated timeframe.
VP of Sales and Marketing, Roslan Abdullah told Berita Harian, that the measure is in place to ensure that all buyers who have made their bookings during the SST exemption period will receive their vehicle before 1-April 2023.
Roslan adds that the general waiting period for Proton X70, Persona, Iriz, Exora and Saga is approximately 2 months, depending on colour and variant, but, the waiting period for the X50 currently stands at 6 months.
When you factor in that bookings have doubled in June as buyers clamour for last-minute deals, it could very well be the last chance for buyers to order a Proton X50 for the whole of 2022.
However, Roslan reiterates that Proton does not expect all bookings to convert into realized deliveries as buyers still have to obtain hire purchase financing approvals before the deal is completed.
