After 7 years, Toyota Alphard and Vellfire removed from UMWT site, signs of new gen 2023 model coming?

Surprising as it may sound, but UMW Toyota Motor, the official distributor of Toyota vehicles in Malaysia has quietly removed the Toyota Alphard from its website. The Alphard's sibling mode, the Vellfire has also been axed.

UMWT began offering local specifications version of the Toyota Alphard since 2014 with the AH20-generation model. Subsequently in 2016, UMWT launched the then-new AH30-generation Alphard and Vellfire duo.

Now, roughly 7 years later and both luxury MPVs have been removed from UMWT’s site.

Despite being almost 8 years old, both the Alphard and Vellfire are still very popular MPVs in Japan and buyers there have to wait quite a while before getting the keys to their new MPV.

That said, Toyota has ceased order taking of the outgoing Alphard and Vellfire models and is working hard to clear its backlog orders. It's reasonable to believe that the same reasoning is extended to Malaysia, as the models are imported (CBU) from Japan.

On top of that, rumours from Japan have mentioned that Toyota is already working on the next-generation 2023 Toyota Alphard, slated to arrive as soon as May. Whether or not the next-gen Alphard can arrive in Malaysia before 2023 ends remains to be seen.

Japanese publication Creative311 also mentioned that the next-gen Alphard may not offer the outgoing model's naturally-aspirated 3.5-litre V6, adopting a range of petrol-electric hybrids and a turbocharged mill instead.

Before it was discontinued in Malaysia, the Toyota Alphard was priced from RM 464,000, while the Vellfire went for RM 382,300.

Proven durability: Old Toyota Innova may continue to be sold in Malaysia alongside new gen 2023 Toyota Innova Zenix?

UMW Toyota Motor will be launching the all-new 2023 Toyota Innova Zenix later tonight. A countdown timer to its online launch and registration of interest page is already up on its website. Usually, the introduction of a new generation model would also mean the discontinuation / replacement of the previous generation model. The Toyota Innova could be an exemption to this, if product line ups in Indonesia and India – the two biggest markets for the Innova – is a reliable indication of what’s comi

Mercedes-AMGs assemble - 448 units gathered at Sepang sets a new Malaysian record

The earlier rain settles into a light drizzle, the air is damp and fizzing with the smell of fuel. A procession of cars that took nearly one hour to get on the main straight of the Sepang F1 circuit has led to this moment. Standing almost dead centre of the pack, Mercedes-AMGs stretch as far as the eye can see up and down the road. As the marshalls start counting the number of cars, the final tally stops at a whopping 448 units. The feat, jointly organised by Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM), AMG Cl

GR Sport portfolio about to grow in Indonesia as the 2023 Toyota RAV4 GR Sport PHEV spotted on their roads

Earlier in the year at the Gaikindo Jakarta Auto Week 2023, Toyota Indonesia previewed the 2023 Toyota RAV4 GR Sport PHEV that left suburban dads and soccer mums salivating. Now, it appears that Toyota Indonesia are making good on their tease by bringing the RAV4 GR Sport PHEV to our neighbours across the Straits of Malacca. The proof is in the pudding as the electrified SUV was spotted running around Bandung, West Java, on photos to the Instagram account of a user going by the handle of @malvin

Chinese cars are poorly built? This indestructible Lynk & Co 01 Hybrid shows otherwise

Theatrics seem to work well in China, and here we have a Lynk & Co 01 that was subjected to some rather extreme tests. Here's the video by Chinese media Yī lù yǒu chē: A cargo container that weighs about a tonne was dropped on it; two Honda Jazzes crashed to its sides simultaneously; it went through glass and brick walls; it even had explosives detonated from outside and inside of the car. It was pointed out that the even though explosives were placed at the bottom of the car, which is where the
