D74A Perodua Axia's Indo twin makes it into Indonesia's top 10 best-selling cars in March 2023

According to the latest wholesale data by Gaikindo, one of the D74A Perodua Axia’s Indonesian twins managed to achieve something its predecessor failed to do, reaching the top ten of Indonesia’s best-selling cars in March 2023.

Then again, the all-new generation of the Toyota Agya/Daihatsu Ayla is an accomplished city car much like its Malaysian sibling. As such, 3,475 units of the Daihatsu Ayla and 2,349 units of the Toyota Agya were sold in the first month following its launch. That puts the Ayla as the 9th best-selling car in the archipelago in March while the Agya is placed 14th.

Still, even with both numbers combined, the Agya-Ayla duo couldn’t match the sales figures of its closest rival, the Honda Brio. In fact, the little Honda maintained its position as Indonesia’s best-selling car in March with 7,327 units sold.

Taking up second place is the Toyota Avanza with 5,641 units followed by the Daihatsu Sigra with 5,027 units sold.

In terms of variants, the best-selling Toyota Agya is the 1.2 G which saw 1,712 units being sold while the best-selling Daihatsu Ayla is the 1.0 X with 1,799 units sold. The Toyota Agya is only available with a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder WA-VE (88 PS/113 Nm) engine whereas the Daihatsu Ayla is available with both the 1.0-litre 1KR-VE (67 PS/89 Nm) and the 1.2-litre units.

In total, 101,048 units of new vehicles were sold in Indonesia in March 2023, a 16.2% increase in sales compared to the month prior (86,954 units) and a 2.6% increase compared to the same period in 2022 (98,535 units).
