20 photos to decide if you prefer the 2024 MINI Countryman Electric over the Tesla Model Y

The third-generation all-new MINI Countryman has made its debut, having undergone some simplification in design compared to its predecessor. And for the first time in a Countryman, there’s an all-electric version. Here’s a closer look at the all-new MINI Country Electric.

The all-new MINI Countryman now measures 4,433 mm in length, 1,843 mm in width, and 1,656 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,692 mm. This represents an increase in height by 60 mm and in length by 130 mm compared to the previous generation.

The all-new MINI Countryman introduces two electric powertrains: the Countryman E and the Countryman SE All4. The MINI Countryman E has a front-mounted electric motor with 204 PS and 250 Nm while the MINI Countryman SE has a dual-motor setup that makes 313 PS and 494 Nm.

Both have a battery capacity of 66.45 kWh, allowing for a WLTP range of up to 462 km in the Countryman E and 433 km in the Countryman SE. Both variants support AC charging at up to 22 kW and DC fast charging at up to 130 kW.

Inside the third-generation Countryman, there’s a 9.4-inch OLED touchscreen called the MINI Interaction Unit at the centre of the dashboard. It operates on MINI Operating System 9, which also features voice commands via the Intelligent Personal Assistant, visually represented by 'Spike.'

The all-electric Countryman will be available in four trim levels, mirroring the options offered for the Mini Cooper: Essential, Classic, Favoured, and JCW.

The Essential Trim, the entry-level option, includes black sports seats upholstered in patterned multitone textiles. Moving up to the Classic Trim, you'll find a three-spoke steering wheel replacing the basic two-spoke version, featuring a new textile strap at the six o'clock position.

Opting for the Favoured Trim introduces a Dark Petrol finish to the dashboard and door panels, along with sports seats adorned with accent stitching and an embroidered Mini logo.

With the seats upright, the luggage compartment provides 460 litres of storage, which can be expanded to up to 1,450 litres by folding down the rear seats.

As for advanced driver-assistance systems, the optional Driving Assistant Plus package includes automatic active cruise control, steering assistant, and lane assistant. There's also a Driving Assistant Professional package that enables hands-free driving on motorways at speeds of up to 60 km/h.

There are 12 ultrasonic sensors and four surround-view cameras. An optional Parking Assistant Professional package allows for remote parking via smartphone using the Remote Parking function.
