2024 Kia Carnival facelift unveiled, 3 powertrains offered including 1.6 turbo hybrid

Since its global unveiling in August 2020, the fourth-generation Kia Carnival has been a huge success in many countries around the world even as minivans face a downward trend amidst the popularity of SUVs.

3 years later, Kia officially unveiled the new 2024 Kia Carnival facelift mere days after undisguised photos of the refreshed Grand Utility Vehicle were leaked by Korean social media. For now, only the exterior has been unveiled with Kia still keeping mum on the interior.

The Korean carmaker described the updated look as a combination of refined sophistication and SUV-like strength with the concept of Modern Boldness based on Kia’s Opposites United design philosophy.

In front, the new Carnival has a redesigned vertical headlight with signature star map lighting DRLs. The Gravity variant in South Korea would feature a dedicated front grille design and dark metallic colour trims.

Around the back, the license plate holder has been moved downwards while the exposed tailgate handle was removed to create a clean rear design.

Six exterior colours were also announced including Ivory Silver, Snow White Pearl, Astra Blue, Aurora Black Pearl, Pantera Metal, and Ceramic Silver.

Kia announced that there will be three powertrains offered for the new Carnival with the inclusion of a 1.6-litre turbo hybrid for the Korean market. No output figures were revealed for the hybrid system but the petrol and diesel powerplants are likely to be carried over from the outgoing pre-facelift model.

Perodua has clocked 88,537 units sold in the third quarter of this year (Q3 2023), a 28.3 percent improvement over the same period last year (69,011 in Q3 2022), credited to a boost in production and the Perodua Bezza's reigning status as the brand's best-seller. This also means that Perodua has sold 233,227 units in the first nine months of 2023, an 18.7 percent improvement over the 196,354 units this time last year. Of those, the Bezza reigns supreme as the brand's best seller, followed by the
Perodua is set to make the fourth quarter of this year (Q4 2023) its best ever, and the Rawang outfit is well on track to hit its 314,000 unit sales target this year – and an improved production efficiency is the major step they've taken to see it through. Advancements in its plants have seen the carmaker post 18.6 percent sales increase year-to-date in September 2023, which currently stands at 233,227 units. Rather unsurprisingly this comes off the back of a 18.7 percent improvement in manufact
The effects of an industry-wide bottleneck to fill backlogged orders – stemming from the pandemic – saw precious raw materials and parts supply dry up, getting in the way of car production. That invariably lead to super long wait times (a problem that still persists today), and at one point, getting a Perodua Alza was a 13-month long wait, for instance. Over the past few months however, things have improved as 9- to 13-month waitlists have averaged down to around 2 to 8 months now across all mod
