First in ASEAN? All-new MX-gen 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe to launch in the Philippines

While Malaysia has just yet to launch the facelifted version of the outgoing TM generation Hyundai Santa Fe, Philippines has confirmed that it will soon be launching the all-new MX generation 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe.

Hyundai Motor Philippines Inc (HMPH) hosted a preview of the fifth generation Santa Fe for its local customers earlier this month, showcasing a 7-seater variant, powered by a 2.5-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder paired to an 8-speed automatic all-wheel drive transmission.

The latest MX generation Santa Fe made its global debut in July this year but sales in right-hand drive markets have yet to begin. The UK and Australia are still selling the outgoing TM generation Santa Fe. The Philippines is left-hand drive.

Globally, the all-new 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe is available with four powertrains options, all petrol 4-cylinders:

2.5-litre turbocharged, 281 PS / 422 Nm

2.5-litre naturally aspirated, 194 PS / 246 Nm

1.6-litre turbocharged hybrid, 235 PS / 367 Nm

1.6-litre turbocharged plug-in hybrid โ€“ to be confirmed

Closer to home, the outgoing generation Hyundai Santa Fe has been previewed in Malaysia, but local distributor Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors has yet to be confirm the prices.

Two engine options are available for Malaysia, a 1.6-litre turbocharged hybrid (230 PS / 350 Nm) and a 2.2-litre turbo diesel (193 PS / 440 Nm). The hybrid is available in two variants; Plus and Max. The model is assembled at Inokomโ€™s plant in Kulim, and is also exported to Thailand.

It appears the facelifted (G05) 2024 BMW X5, in particular, the X5 xDrive50e plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variant could be getting ready for its Malaysian launch very soon. According to data from the Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA), local production (CKD) in Kulim seems to be well underway with 162 units produced as of November 2023, with 93 units in November alone. This contrasts with zero units of the outgoing X5 xDrive45e โ€“ first introduced here in June 2020 โ€“ produced last month. Also read:
