led aesthetic bedroom Q&A Review

What is the strangest/creepiest thing you've ever seen in a house?

Back in 2005, after my husband and I had been married about a year, we decided to start searching for a larger apartment to live in. We had spent the prior three years living in a minuscule apartment above a 2-car garage. It was fine for a young couple just starting out. We wanted to eventually start our family and knew that we would soon need a larger home to accommodate our needs. This was back in the days of slow-poke dial-up Internet, mind you, so the newspaper was our best method of choice to search for apartment listings. I wanted to stay in the same town we lived in where we both grew up, but my husband ended up selecting a listing to call about in the next town over, a ten minute drive right across the river in an area in which we were well-familiar. I was reluctant because of the town’s high crime rate and bad reputation, but I was willing to give it a try. It sounded too good to be true. Spacious three bedroom apartment for only $550 a month with gas and water included. No lease. Move out when you want. It was a steal! The building was about one hundred years old. It wasn’t run-down, but it was in serious need of a facelift. I was willing to look past that because the apartment itself was freshly painted and immaculate. It was just very old. I was charmed by the place immediately. I’ve always had a sixth sense about dwellings and I felt something drawing me in about this place. It had a lot of original woodwork and a large, beautiful stained-glass window in the living room. I’ve always been charmed by old, antique buildings with a history. In the early 1900’s, the first floor was a popular bar, while the second and third floors were hotel rooms. There was nothing special, nor aesthetically pleasing about the outside of the building. Just simple, standard red brick. This building consisted of three floors with an apartment on each. The second floor was what we inquired about. I was pleased to see that the apartment had a very large living room, dining room, and kitchen, along with an office room with many windows. The three bedrooms were spacious. It had two entrances, tons of windows, an on-site laundry facility, two off-street private parking spaces, a large yard, and a basement storage unit. We couldn’t pass it up. We thought we hit pay dirt finding a place this large for only $550 a month, only having to pay electric and cable. We couldn’t contain our excitement as we told the Greek man who owned it that we’d take it. Here’s where things get weird… the building was narrow, but very long. Beyond the kitchen there was a hallway leading to the bedrooms and bathroom. We were shown the humongous floor-to-ceiling pantry closet therein, a tiny-but-cute broom closet tucked away, and another large closet for storage. The pluses to this apartment were piling up. But there was one door in the hallway that beckoned my attention and I waited patiently for the landlord to explain the purpose of it. He never did. As the showing was winding down and negotiations to accept were being discussed, I interrupted the landlord and my husband to ask about the mystery door. It was directly next to the door of what would be our bedroom, so I had to crack the mystery. Me: “So, what is this door? Another closet?” Landlord: “No, it’s not. It’s nothing.” Me: “No, seriously, what is it?” Landlord: (in a briskly irritated tone) “You won’t need to worry about that. It’s nothing. You won’t need to go down there. Just don’t open it. It doesn’t open anyway.” Um, no. Completely unacceptable. Naturally, I persisted. He eventually just said it leads to the “furnace that heats the building”. Ok. Whatever. That’s fine. I was too excited about the apartment that I accepted that answer and forgot about it. Turns out I shouldn’t have, because oh my freaking god, I later discovered what that door led to and it creeped me out to the point where I ended up hating that apartment knowing it was there. A few days later we were moving in and trying to get settled. My mom came over to help us. In my excitement, I had forgotten about the mystery door until my mom noticed it and asked me what it was. I simply told her that I didn’t know and accepted the landlord’s explanation that it just led to the furnace. Hindsight is 20/20. It really is. I was young and naive and I blindly accepted the landlord’s words and command to never open the door. I didn’t care at the time. I just wanted a large, affordable apartment. Luckily, my mom didn’t accept that answer and decided to investigate. It was an old-fashioned wooden door with a wobbly knob and an old metal slide lock. She had to work at it for a minute, and grab a hammer to get it to slide to the unlock position, but she managed to get it unlocked. Then she tried the knob. She had to turn it in such a way that it would agree to unlatch. The door was a bit weighty and required some force to pull open. She was determined and finally flung it open. We were met with what is honestly one of the creepiest things I’ve ever seen. It was a hole, a drop-off basically, that you could break your neck if you fell into. It was like something straight out of a horror movie. It was like a cob-webbed portal to another dimension in Dracula’s castle. There was an old-fashioned light switch to the right that she happened to find, and amazingly enough it worked, bathing the drop-off chasm with dim, eerie light from a lone, naked lightbulb sticking out of the wall. There were a set of steps steeper than I’ve ever seen before that resembled more of a ladder. They led down to a landing that appeared to snake to the right. There was no way in hell I was going down there. For all I knew, those ladder steps could’ve led to actual hell itself. Or collapsed under the weight of an average human. Of course, my mom being the ballsy adventurer she is, she carefully started right down them. I was a nervous wreck standing in the hallway several feet back from the drop-off. Cold air was emanating from it. I was cringing and waiting for the sounds of screams. Or monster growls. Or demons. I don’t know. You name it. She re-emerged a couple of minutes later thoroughly amused and beckoning for my husband and I to come see. I crept slowly and carefully down each step. Every surface was covered with thick dirt, dust, and cob-webs. Thankfully there was a railing, even though there was a coating of crud on it that had me cringing. I remember only agreeing to go down there if my mom and my husband were right in front of and behind me. The steep steps snaked to the right, then they snaked to the left. We went in circles until we came to a room. My mom found a working light switch in it that gave some luminosity, but not enough to curb the creepiness. There were shelves along the wall with random objects on them - an old telephone, antiques, tools, and about a dozen mason jars with contents I had no interest in inspecting. All of it was covered with a heavy coating of dust. To the right was the very large, very ugly, very creepy behemoth of a boiler that controlled all of the radiators in the building. It was about the size of a truck. It was summer time, so it was not running. The landlord was correct - the door DID lead to the “furnace” as he called it, but he didn’t have to be so cryptic about it. I just think there were parts of the building that he ultimately didn’t want tenants wandering in to. At the back of this room with the boiler and shelves of dusty old crap, there was another stairwell that led up to another door. My husband discovered that it led to the backyard. I was perplexed because this building already had a basement where our laundry room and storage was, but this place was like the second basement deep in the bowels of the building. They must’ve had to do an awful lot of super deep digging to build this building. While one side of the room led to a door taking you to the back yard, the other side led to a tunnel. It had an unfinished floor and brick walls. Seeing as how the building was long and narrow, this tunnel went on and on. There were no lights along the way. There was only one in the beginning of it. It sent my sixth sense into a tailspin, so there was no way we were going any further. Even my mom and husband were not willing. I realize it may not seem much to many, it’s just the foundation of an old building, but believe me when I say, it’s a place you can “feel” energies and a sense of foreboding. I couldn’t bear to stay down there for long, and I only ever went down there on one other occasion in the duration of our tenancy. We made it out running joke that our apartment came with a free “dungeon”, as we jokingly named it. We offered to let friends go down the steps and see it when they’d visit. We joked that it was where the landlord hid the dead bodies. We joked that we’d lock someone up in our dungeon if they made us mad. It was like a side-show attraction in an amusement park. It always left me feeling uneasy because there were no locks on the door down there that led to the backyard, either inside of it or out. Anyone could have walked right down there-homeless squatters looking for a place to sleep, burglars, drug addicts looking for a place to shoot up- and the other side of it led straight up to my apartment with only an old door and old slide lock keeping them out. My father thankfully installed a stronger lock on it days later, one reason being to keep people from breaking in, and the second reason being because we were going to have children soon and my parents didn’t want them opening the door and falling in that stone abyss. We ended up living in that apartment for six torturous years. It ended up being dreadfully haunted. Here’s the link to the story I wrote about it: ,Gloria Betters's answer to Have you ever had a paranormal experience or lived in a haunted house / apartment? What happened? Did people believe you when you told them about it?,) Every time I’d walk down my hallway and walk past that door, a chill went down my spine. We invited a ghost-hunting psychic over a few years later who told us that that door led to a hotbed of activity and at least two stuck entities that weren’t very friendly. I honestly don’t know how I survived living six years in that building.

Is Jimmy Page overrated as a guitarist?

Those who say that Page is overrated, often are overrating themselves. During the 1990s and 2000s, and to some extent today, there was a slew of highly technical, extremely fast guitarists. Since 2000, the rise of YouTube and online lessons has meant that there are many, many extremely precise bedroom guitarists out there looking down on Page, Clapton, Hendrix, Robert Johnson and others. And yet the guitar has less impact on popular music today than it has at any point since the 1950s. The reality is that Hendrix, Page, Beck, Clapton, Johnson, Knopfler, Santana and so on were extraordinary musicians who were as technical as they needed to be, but lived within the loose-playing ethos which was one of the main differences between contemporary music and classical music. Today we have many, many highly technical guitarists who can be sharply critical of the great guitarists, but are not producing anything that anybody wants to hear. This suggests a flawed aesthetic among today’s playing community, not a problem with those guitarists. Nigel Kennedy, the great classical violinist, enjoyed listening to Led Zeppelin. You would be pressed to find anywhere in the world, ever, a guitarist with as much technical virtuosity as Nigel Kennedy, but Kennedy was not bothered by the ‘sloppiness’. If you listen to the fluffed notes on Zeppelin studio recordings, including on Hot Dog on In Through The Out Door, you aren’t hearing someone who couldn’t play better, but someone who has happy to be heard for who he was, not some re-timed, punched-in fantasy version of himself. If you hear Zeppelin, and think ‘that’s rubbish’ then you need to check your number of platinum albums. If you haven’t produced any, then you may need to wonder: ‘do I know something Page didn’t know, or did he know something that I don’t know?’

What should I do if my parents had bought LED lights when there is research saying it is harmful to humans?

Do some more reading. Learn to distinguish proper scientific evidence backed research from ignorant prattling by people selling newspapers or pushing an agenda (or alternative products). Consider that phrase. Sugar and salt are both harmful to humans —if consumed to excess. And they are, by many people. (No salt will kill you). The only research I am aware of putting LEDs in this “harmful” category, is a weak link between exposure to blue light in the two hours before bed-time, and insomnia. So if you and everybody else in your family are sleeping well, stop worrying. Incidentally mobile phone and computer screens and TVs are a greater source of blue light if used shortly before bed. If someone is suffering from insomnia they should try reverting to filament bulbs in the bedroom and see if it makes any difference, as well as banning TV and screens before bed. If this does not help you can probably rule out LED bulbs as a cause. I personally use 2700K “warm” LEDs that emit less blue light, but that's an aesthetic choice in my case.

What are the differences between LED tubes T5 and T8?

As rightly mentioned by other Quora colleagues ,T8 LED Tube is a 26mm dia Tube which is standard replacement of 36w Standard Fluorescent tube. ( Length 1200mm ) The T5 LED Tube is 16mm dia & also slightly shorter in length compared to standard T8 Tube (T5 Tube Length is 1149 mm ) Coming to your query on replacing CFL with LED Tube for bedroom , my suggestion is you can go for LED T5 Batten in either 16w or 18w ( Image shown below ) This T5 Batten consumes less power ,easy to install (wall or ceiling ) & looks aesthetic ,the T8 LED Tube are meant only as replacement to existing T8 fluorescent tubes in Commercial & Industrial application where the existing fixtures cannot be discarded.

What is the best way to design a bedroom

Here are one of the most basic approaches to aesthetically improve your room. There is much more when it comes to working you aesthetic room decor but I guess if you apply the given categories first, you are pretty much falling in the right direction and everything that comes after that is going end up looking aesthetic if it matches the theme you start with the given points. First of all - ,LED LIGHTS, - Grab some led lights, more then one or two of them at least. Hang them up around your mirror (basically outline your mirror with it) / Hang them up over the ceiling (adding a picture for reference) / Randomly stick them around you decorative wall or the photographs you might have put up on the walls. Third of all - ,PHOTO WALLS ,- Might sound like an old idea and ”OMG I read this everywhere”, yet and if you still have not done this, you must give it a try as the photo wall will add the most beautiful aesthetics to your room and gives you a all piece full of memories. (and MEMORIES are aesthetic <3) Second of All - ,INDOOR PLANTS, - Indoor plants are definitely a must have when it comes to aesthetic room decor. They are good for the vibe and make you feel fresh every time you look at them plus they are the most aesthetic thing one can have in the rooms. Use them as corner plants with a pot. Hang them up in macrame pot holders and use it as a wall hanging with a purpose. Grab some Plant vines (or also artificial vines for wall decoration) and stick them up Vertically on the preferred wall.
