Proton曾用Tiara和Savvy挑战Perodua,结果却以惨败告终

ProtonPerodua之间,很容易看出谁的车才是人民之车。不过,这两家国产车企之间,也一直有着某种友好的竞争关系。

尽管Proton凭借着IrizPerodua Myvi打得有来有回,但比起真正的王者,它还是要差点意思。不过至少,Iriz的销量还算可观,但这个评价,用在它的前辈Proton TiaraProton Savvy上更加合适。

这两款Proton的掀背车型到底做错了什么,以至于我们会将它们称为吉利时代前最差劲的Proton车型?从理论上说,这取决于Savvy选择的变速箱,但无论如何,这两款车型对于Proton来说都是很失败的。

那么,我们先从Proton Tiara开始吧。

Proton Tiara——表现并不出色

在90年代,Proton几乎占据了每一个级别的市场。Iswara虽然可能有些落后了,但它确实能够让你以低廉的价格换来宽裕的空间。

Wira在追加了新的引擎选项后,在销量榜上居高不下,而尽管Perdana才刚刚上市,但它最终统治D级市场只是时间问题。最后,还有Satria,它也逐渐成为了一个狂热群体的符号。

所以,Tiara在这里真的有些格格不入。首先,它是基于Citroen AX开发的,而当时其它的Proton车系都是基于Mitsubishi的车型开发。

Tiara是Proton在当时的CEO——Yahaya Ahmad的领导下,与PSA Peugeot Citroe达成协议后,构想的第一款车型。在一些圈子里,Yahaya被称为“马来西亚汽车沙皇”,他坚称要使用这家法国公司的技术,而不是依靠Mitsubishi。

听起来几乎与Tun M的向东学习(Looking East)政策完全相反,但促成这个合作关系的另一个原因,在于获取这家法国公司的柴油引擎授权。因此,USPD(Usahasama Proton DRB Sdn. Bhd.)建立了,Tiara也与1996年正式上市。

遗憾的是,Yahaya对Proton采用Citroen或Peugeot平台的梦想,都在1997年的直升机空难中破灭了。在这场空难中,他、他的妻子以及直升机的飞行员都丧生了。

但回到Tiara上,对于Proton来说,它无疑是一次巨大的失败。这辆小小的5门掀背车搭载了更为强劲的1.1升Citroen引擎,能够输出60 PS的马力,它本应成为Perodua Kancil的间接竞争者。

与搭配自排变速箱的Kancil不同的是,Tiara的两款车型都只匹配了一具5速手排变速箱。GL车型有着灰色的车身护板,而GLi车型则是全车喷漆的。

它同时也保留了Citroen AX那种法国车古灵精怪的特性,像是被时钟代替的转速表、喇叭开关从方向盘上换到了转向灯杆上、轮圈上的三个大螺母,这一切都让大部分马来西亚人无所适从。

因为与PSA Citroen Peugeot的协议,Tiara被禁止出口海外。因此,它只在大马市售了四年,直到2000年退市。

Proton Savvy——隐藏的宝藏?

在刚开始开发Proton Savvy的时候,它有着Tiara取代车型(TRM)的代号。与Tiara不同的是,Proton决定要完全自主研发这款全新的掀背车,而这也是针对Perodua和刚上市的Myvi的首个直接竞争者。

Savvy在2005年6月份正式上市,距离Myvi上市仅过去了一个月。车身和内装都是原创的设计,与当时Proton的其它车系一样,是自主开发的。

确实,Savvy的外观有些古怪,有些人可能会觉得它有点可爱。但就像Tiara一样,大部分马来西亚人都难以接受这种看起来完全不同的东西。与Myvi相比,它的空间不够大,实用性也不足。

对了,当时还有一个特别有趣的宣传活动,目的是展示Savvy有多么耐用。甚至它的宣传手册看起来都很像漫画书。

驱动Savvy的是一具1.2升的引擎(75 PS/105 Nm),这具引擎与Renault Twingo和Renault Clio上的是同款。Proton或许换了个法国的合作伙伴,但看起来,大马人民仍旧没有准备好接受它。

更糟糕的是,它采用了一具半自动(AMT)变速箱。Savvy没有采用传统的自排变速箱,而是保留了以欧洲为主的风格,采用了粗糙而笨拙的Magneti Marelli Quickshift快排变速箱。这具变速箱并不适合城市驾驶,而且有很多可靠性的问题。

不过,Savvy还是有亮点的,那就是它的5速手排变速箱,它重新为这款小掀背车注入了活力。

在手排的Savvy上,你可以体会到Renaul引擎的活泼、车子过弯时的乐趣、以及乘坐体验的舒适。

不久后,Savvy Zerokit车型也于2006年3月份上市。它为Savvy追加了一套宽体车身套件、15英寸的JRD轮圈以及一个尾翼。Proton R3(Race Rally Research)也为车子提供了更加运动的悬吊,并将马力上调到了78 PS,全面加强了车子的性能。

在之后的2007年,Savvy又进行了一次改款,在我看来,这次改款确实改进了Savvy的外观。Proton为Savvy车系又追加了一款基础款车型,称为Savvy Lite,它配备了钢轮圈、双色保险杠和手动车窗,这可以算得上是马来西亚版本的Dacia Sandero了吧?

与Tiara不同,Savvy被出口到了好几个国家和地区,包括英国、新加坡、印尼、台湾和泰国等。而在泰国,你还可以看到Savvy被换上了各种有趣的引擎

随着Perodua凭借Myvi和其它对消费者友好的车型超越了Proton,登上了榜单第一后,Proton开始陷入困境,并最终于2011年叫停了Savvy。不过,它的平台仍旧存续了下来,被第二代Saga所使用。

至少Proton已经走出了过去的错误,并在第三次尝试中,成功地为Iriz找到了魅力所在。尽管如此,Proton还是无法短时间内从Perodua的手中夺回头把交椅。Proton已经没有了往日的光辉,但他们现在专注于自己擅长的级距市场,而不是试图挤进每一个市场,这或许能够帮助他们慢慢重拾辉煌。
