2022 Toyota Camry Hybrid facelift launched in Indonesia – 10 percent cheaper because of CO2 based taxation

Focussing on the 2.5 HV (hybrid) variant, prices start at IDR 767 million (RM 224k). The new taxation system has resulted in a price drop of IDR 83 million (RM 24k) from IDR 850 million (RM 248k).

The Camry 2.5 HV is powered by the Toyota Dynamic Force 2.5-litre A25A-FXS which outputs 178 PS and 202 Nm of torque. Power is sent to the front wheels through a CVT-type automatic.

Accompanying the new powertrain is an array of aesthetic updates which includes a sculpted redesign of the front bumper, as well as redesigned new LED headlights.

Along the flanks, the Camry Hybrid is fitted with newly designed 18-inch wheels and round the back, the taillights have been redesigned with a new light signature.

On the inside, the facelift Camry gains a new asjustable steering wheel, and titanium trim on the dashboard.

A new floating-style infotainment touchscreen now gets Android Auto and Apple Carplay connectivity.

Another highlight is the Toyota Safety Sense 2 (TSS 2). TSS 2 technology offers a variety of features ranging from PreCollision System (PCS), Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC) with Curve Speed Reduction, Lane Tracing Assist (LTA), to Automatic High Beam (AHB).

Closer to home, UMW Toyota's hybrid strategy is focused on the Corolla Cross Hybrid, given Malaysia's capacity based taxation system, it's likely that conventional powertrain is likely to continue to serve in our Camry.

But the biggest question is, would we get the much anticipated 2.5L Dynamic Force engine?
