The all-new 2020 Nissan Almera has been caught undisguised in Malaysia, shortly after the all-new Honda City was sighted on the AKLEH highway.
Previously, our friends over at Careta posted a photo of a taped-up Almera, but this time around, we can see the car without any camouflage, giving us a good look at Nissan’s upcoming B-segment sedan.
This particular unit appears to be the mid-to-upper range variant, as it gets the 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels (expect lower variants to get 15-inch units) and integrated radio antenna (lower variants get a bee sting-type antenna).
For the Malaysian market, the all-new 2020 Nissan Almera will likely feature the same powertrain as its Thai counterpart: a 1.0-litre turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine that does 100 PS at 5,000 rpm and 152 Nm from 2,400 rpm to 4,000 rpm. The engine is mated to a CVT-type automatic transmission.
Despite the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, 2020 is shaping up to be a rather interesting year – Honda Malaysia is readying up the all-new City, Proton is still road-testing the upcoming X50, Perodua is working on the D55L SUV, and Toyota is busy with the Corolla Cross.
The all-new 2020 Nissan Almera is shaping up to be an interesting model as well – as ETCM did a decent job with the C27 Nissan Serena and Nissan X-Trail facelift. If they play their cards well, the all-new Nissan Almera could give the all-new Honda City and Toyota Vios a good run for their money.
