@Ibrahim_M_ This is a 1977 CJ5...they changed the headlights for the YJ (rectangle shaped) and moved back to round for the TJ. Now they have that four door abomination called the JK, which means “Just Kidding...it’s not really a Jeep”. 😂

Why didn't Jeep produce any Wranglers in 1996?
Jeep was producing Wranglers in 1996, but they went by the name Jeep TJ. Above is the Jeep CJ (Civilian Jeeps) which was produced from 1945 and ended production 1986. Above is the Jeep YJ produced from 1987 and ending production in 1995. It is now known as the Jeep Wrangler. This Jeep featured rectangular headlights, lower ground clearance, improved comfort and enhanced handling. This is the Jeep Wrangler (TJ), produced from 1996, and ending production in 2006. This Wrangler brought back the classic round headlights from the CJ. From now on, the wranglers were fitted with coil springs instead of the leaf spring suspension. This is the Jeep Wrangler (JK), produced from 2006 till the start of 2018. In this generation of Wranglers, a four door unlimited model was released. The car came with either a 6 speed manual transmission or a 5 speed automatic. The vehicle was introduced to a 3.8 EGH engine from 2007–2011, a 3.6 Pentastar V6 and a 2.8 I4 turbodiesel. Will Jeep with square headlights ever make a comeback? Unequivocally no. It has been stated many times by Jeep officials, including head of Jeep design Mark Allen and head of FCA design Ralph Gilles, that the square headlights on the Jeep YJ were a design “mistake” that won't happen again. Their reasoning being that the, ,Wrangler evolved from the Bantam BRC and Willys MA and MBs of WW2 that all had round headlights. Therefore, the round headlights are iconic. So muchso that the logo below is trademarked.

They did nothing, but the small design change and modified the name of Jeep CJ into YJ and sold it to Chrysler. It creates a lot of controversies among Jeep enthusiast, many people found this design was messy and the square headlights proved less endearing than round one. Even auto enthusiast trended this kinda statement, “Real Jeeps have round headlights” Later 1995, they realized that they(Chrysler) had been fooled and changed it to the old round one. What is the difference between a YJ and a TJ Jeep?
The first and most noticeable difference is the YJ has square headlights while the TJ brought back the round headlights of the CJ. the other big difference being the TJ having coil spring suspension for a more nuanced ride as opposed to the YJ and CJ leaf spring suspension. Aside from that the differences would be a little more ground clearance on the TJ until you get to 2003 when the Rubicon and unlimited lines started up. Power train wise they are almost identical with the TJ being tuned for more power, but that happens with literally every car as the years go on, the newer cars make more power than their older versions.
Being over 20 years old, are YJ Jeeps reliable today?
Ah, an unpopular Jeep… Reknown as the first “Jeep with square headlights” - but this was more in reference to the types with removable tops; they were part of a progression that started with the Jeep ‘Quad’ and became an icon in World War II with the MB, these types of vehicles became known for their off-road prowess, though for a time the YJ’s just were accepted into the club (and hence why Jeep brought back the round headlights with the TJ’s). Keep in mind that an old motto was ‘Jeeps are built, not born’ (though the ones of the past decade or so can be more capable than several that are built). My advice? Avoid the ones with the Peugeot transmission (5 speeds in the 87–89 vintage); if memories serve, these were problematic. And though the 4 cylinder engine will serve, look for one with a 4.0 or 4.2 engine. While I wouldn’t opt for a YJ if I had the option to pick up a CJ or a TJ, the 91 through 95 YJ with the fuel-injected 4.0 and AX15 transmission. This combo has a potential to get you to about 250,000 miles; after that, consider it a blank slate and build it into your heart’s desire - Drop in a GM V6 or V8, or a Ford 5.0 (I personally always wanted to commit a sacrilege involving a Honda VTech, even if it cost me my Jeeper’s privilege card).
