Battle of the hottest Japanese B-segment hatchbacks, whatโs your pick?
123
The 2021 Honda City Hatchback made its global debut on 24-November 2020 in Thailand. Much like the 2021 Honda City e:HEV (which we know as the City RS), the hatchback attracted lots of comments about its colour.
If this colour feels familiar but can't really pinpoint where you saw it, let us help you: this Sonic Grey Pearl shade is also offered on the Honda Civic Type R.
This colour was shown by Honda Malaysia on a Type R demo car, but was never officially offered.
Looks like the stubby-butt City has got its looks department all sorted out then, thanks to its 'baby Mercedes-Benz A-Class' looks and now this Type R colour.
In Thailand, it is powered by a 1.0-litre DOHC VTEC turbo engine, capable of making 122 PS and 173 Nm. The three-cylinder mill is paired to a CVT.
Like its sedan counterpart, the hatch comes with LED head and tail lights (lower variants get halogen units), a shark fin antenna and new alloy wheels (15-inch for SV and V; 16-inch for RS).
The City Hatchback is slated to replace the Honda Jazz in Malaysia, and will compete against the 2021 Toyota Yaris. Whether or not they'll carry this colour - if they do, it'll be first time ever here - is yet to be seen.
Same case with the Obsidian Blue Pearl, which is available in the Land of Smiles but has been discontinued here. Write in to your dealer if you really love it, maybe you can make a difference.
