Proton and CARSOME join forces allowing customers to trade-in and trade-up to a new ride

In an effort to stimulate new car bookings and leverage its tie-ups with E-bidding companies (EBC), Proton recently collaborated with CARSOME for their 'Trade-in Trade-Up Saturday' event.

CARSOME also conducted 489 vehicle inspections on the day, far exceeding the initial target of 320 units set prior to the event.

“As our sales volume continues to grow, Proton needs to consider avenues to facilitate the taking-in, distribution and disposal of used cars to support new bookings. Our used car management division was formed to achieve these aims and by partnering with EBCs we are able to offer a more efficient and transparent process that eases the customer towards owning a new car.

"With more options for them to trade-up in the range, it is important for us to keep our current customers within the brand and one of the ways is to stabilise our used car values together with our partners,” said Roslan Abdullah, Chief Executive Officer, Proton Edar.

Transparency and offering fair value to customers were some of the points stressed by CARSOME during the event.

"By leveraging data from mileage, historical records, and physical vehicle inspections, we provided customers with competitive offers that reflect true market values. There was a lot of interest shown across all 32 locations during the event and CARSOME is eager to continue building upon this partnership with Proton" said Eric Cheng, Co-founder, and CEO of CARSOME.

For 2023, the used car management division has taken in over 4,500 units across its 32 outlets and is on track to set a new record by the end of the year. Looking forward to 2024, there are plans to expand the network to 60 outlets with a target of achieving at least 6,000 units with plans to possibly run more trade-in events on a quarterly basis.

Part SUV and part sporty wagon, the Toyota FT-3e Concept unveiled at the ongoing Japan Mobility Show 2023 teases a future electrified performance SUV that will be intelligent and adaptive to the driver’s needs. Unveiled alongside the stunning Toyota FT-Se Concept, the FT-3e is one of two battery electric vehicle (BEV) concept models that are claimed to share major componentry and preview the second generation of Toyota EV models that are slated to be progressively introduced starting in 2026. If you watched the Japanese anime “You’re Under Arrest” during the late 80s and early 90s, you’ll be very familiar with the stars of the show. No, not the two cute police officers but the Honda City hatchback kei car and the Honda Motocompo mini motorcycle that was stored in its hatch. At the Japan Mobility Show, Honda has unveiled a retro-modern concept inspired by that original duo. The electric Honda Sustaina-C looks very much like a modern version of the JDM City hatchback. Daihatsu might have a concept car which shares the Copen nameplate but that concept is a bigger sports car that could rival the Mazda MX-5 if it is greenlit for production. However, the D brand has another roadster concept on display at the 2023 Japan Mobility Show (JMS) which could preview the true successor of the current second-generation Copen. The Daihatsu Osanpo is an all-electric (EV) roadster that fits in the kei car category based on the dimensions. In fact, it shares similar dimensions
Back in the 1980s and 1990s, the prime people’s mover or a primitive type of minivan in Malaysia was the Toyota LiteAce. It along with the Nissan Vanette and Ford Spectron were the prime balik kampung transporter for families but they were essentially simple commercial vans. At the ongoing 2023 Japan Mobility Show (JMS), Toyota showcased a unique-looking fully electric (EV) van that might be reminiscent of the evergreen Liteace. Called the Toyota Kayoibako, it is a modular vehicle similar to the
At first glance at the Honda booth at the ongoing Japan Mobility Show 2023, one may think the company has forgotten why it’s a favourite amongst car enthusiasts until they pulled the covers off the absolute showstopping Honda Prelude Concept. Hiding amongst a salvo of urban mobility bikes, robots and automated wheelchairs – the iconic Prelude nameplate now returns as a concept that will take the "joy of driving" into the full-fledged electrified future.
