New 2024 BYD Atto 3 launched in Thailand: 18% cheaper, bigger 50.25 kWh battery, no more torsion beam rear suspension

Rever Automotive, the distributor of BYD cars in Thailand, has launched the updated 2024 BYD Atto 3, now with more variants and even lower prices.

The entry Standard Range Dynamic variant now starts from 899,900 Baht, which is 18 percent cheaper than before, while the highest specifications Extended Range Premium variant is now 12 percent cheaper, at 1,049,900 Baht.

New for 2024 is a third, mid-range variant called Standard Range Premium, at 949,900 Baht.

New look tailgate, minus 'Build Your Dreams'

Compared to the entry variant, Standard Range Premium adds electric tailgate, ambient lights that pulses with the rhythm of the song you are playing, larger 15.6-inch infotainment screen, Dirac HD Sound sound system (still 6 speakers, unchanged), and PM 2.5 air filter.

  • Standard Range Dynamic: 899,900 Baht (~RM 116.7k)
  • Standard Range Premium: 949,900 Baht (~RM 123.3k)
  • Extended Range Premium: 1,049,900 Baht (~RM 136.2k)

The updated 2024 is differentiated by the lack of ‘Build Your Dreams’ lettering on the tailgate, now replaced with just a BYD badge.

The previous model’s silver painted C-pillar is now black. There’s also a new Quantum Black exterior colour.

The tyres on the Extended Range Premium variant are now wider 235/50 R18 items, up from the previous model’s 215/55 R18 ones. Continental tyres have replaced the previous Atlas Batman tyres.

Inside, the upsized 15.6-inch infotainment screen (only for Premium variants) now supports a new karaoke function (mics sold separately).

The revised software also turns off the Daytime Running Light when the transmission is in Park – useful when you are just sitting inside the car, entertaining yourself while the car is being charged at a public charging station.

The push-start button is also rendered redundant now because owners can start the car by simply pressing the brake (with key inside the car).

DC fast charging has also been upgraded, from 80 kW to 88 kW. Regular AC charging remains at 7 kW, still supporting only single phase.

The Standard variants now get a bigger 50.25 kWh battery, up from the previous 49.9 kWh. Curiously, driving range remain unchanged at 410 km (NEDC), presumably it's because the goal here is to reduce charge-discharge cycles of the individual cells, for a longer service life.

DC fast charging is unchanged, at 70 kW, as is the 7 kW regular AC charging. The drivetrain produces 204 PS of power.

The Extended variant gets 60.48 kWh and 88 kW DC fast charging. The numbers for AC charging and power output are the same as the Standard variants.

Previously, the Standard variant uses torsion beam-type rear suspension, while the Extended variant gets a multi-link setup. Now, all variants get multi-link rear suspension.

There are now two interior colours, both two-tone. Depending on exterior colour chosen, the Atto 3’s cabin is now trimmed either in blue-gray or blue-black tones.

In China, pick-up trucks aren’t the most popular choice among buyers which is why the Radar RD6 could find more appeal in right-hand drive (RHD) markets like Australia and Thailand where pick-ups are king. The battery electric (BEV) pick-up truck is only available in a handful of left-hand drive (LHD) markets but it could finally make its way to RHD markets 2 years after its debut. This is evident in an official photo of an RD6 in RHD posted on Geely's LinkedIn page. Aside from the steering whee

BMW Malaysia has introduced the BMW iX2 xDrive30 battery electric vehicle (BEV), now open for pre-booking, priced from RM 297,000 on the road without insurance, inclusive of the RM 14,200 BMW Service and Repair package. Bound for Malaysia within the first half of the year (H1 2024), Aion is the battery electric vehicle (BEV) sub-brand of China’s Guangzhou Automobile Group (GAC). It made its ASEAN debut in our northern neighbour last year and at the ongoing 2024 Bangkok Motor Show, Aion made a special announcement. The Land of Smiles serves as the regional hub for the BYD rival and as such it comes to no surprise that the Kingdom is also the right-hand drive (RHD) market debut of the Aion Hyper HT BEV SUV.
