China has launched a new BYD Yuan Plus, as the BYD Atto 3 is known in the mainland. The updated Chinese market Atto 3 is now known as the BYD Yuan Plus Honor Edition, and it features an optional all-black (Black Knight) exterior and interior colour scheme. Other colours are also available.
Inside, the infotainment’s voice control has been upgraded for better accuracy. The infotainment screen is also larger, now at 15.6-inch, replacing the previous car's 12.8-inch.
Prices of the Chinese market BYD Atto 3 range have also been slashed by between 15,000 to 20,000 Yuan, depending on variant. The electric SUV now starts from 119,800 Yuan to 147,800 Yuan (~RM 79k to RM 97k).

The drivetrain remains unchanged. Standard range variants (430 km, CLTC) are powered by a 49.92 kWh battery, while longer range variants (510 km, CLTC) use a larger 60.48 kWh unit.
Chinese customers also have a choice of upgrading to Continental tyres for an extra RMB 2,000 (per piece), replacing the standard car’s rather unimpressive Atlas Batman tyres.
The highlight is the improved warranty coverage. Customers now enjoy a lifetime warranty for the vehicle’s ‘three core’ electric drive systems – presumably referring to the drive motor, battery, and inverter.
However, the fine print says this lifetime warranty is only applicable to the first buyer and is not transferable once the vehicle is sold. The average car buyer in major Chinese cities don't keep their cars longer than three years.
The standard warranty is 6 years / 150,000 km.
Closer to home, Sime Darby Beyond Auto offers the BYD Atto 3 in two variants. The Standard variant is priced from RM 150,430, while the Extended variant is priced from RM 168,430. Both variants are imported from China.
