Facelifted (V167) 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLE 450 launched in Malaysia; priced at RM 528,888

First things first, the new model is now priced at RM 528,888—a slight increase from the pre-facelift model’s RM 515,888. As before, the 2024 GLE 450 is locally-assembled (CKD) in Pekan, Pahang. 

The premium 7-seater SUV retains its 48V EQ Boost mild hybrid technology and 3.0-litre inline 6-cylinder M256 engine, but now delivers an increased 381 PS and 500 Nm of torque, up from 376 PS/500 Nm previously.

However, the integrated starter generator (ISG) now only provides up to 20 PS and 200 Nm in bursts, down from the previous ISG’s 22 PS and 250 Nm. As before, power is routed to all four wheels through a 9-speed automatic transmission.

Also unchanged is the suspension which features Airmatic Air suspension system with the adaptive damping system (ADS+).

Design-wise, the 2024 GLE 450 offered in the AMG Line trim level features a redesigned front bumper, new diamond grille and the front apron now features a chrome trim element. Round the flanks, the new GLE comes with 21-inch AMG multi-spoke light-alloy wheels paired with larger brake discs.

The headlamps have also been redesigned, now featuring 4 distinct lighting points making up the DRL signature instead of the vertical light beam of the pre-facelift model. Round the back, the taillights have been given the same treatment where the formed by two horizontal blocks instead of the triangular shaped light beams previously.

The new 2024 GLE 450 is available in Obsidian Black, Selenite Grey, High-Tech Silver, and now the optional Diamond White Bright (priced at RM 6,000) from the Manufaktur catalogue.

Interior upgrades include the latest-generation steering wheel with capacitive touch controls and new metal air vents finished in chrome (previously in black) like in the Mercedes-Maybach GLS.

The SUV's infotainment system receives a significant upgrade with the second generation of the MBUX system featuring dual 12.3-inch displays and which now features wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The 2024 GLE 450 also features MBUX Navigation Premium suite which adds augmented reality navigation guidance for further convenience.

Additional new updates include the Burmester 3D 13-speaker surround sound system which now comes with a 'personal' sound setup feature as well as the Dolby Atmos immersive audio experience.

Also new to the 2024 GLE 450 is the the Driving Assistance Package Plus which now Active Distance Assist Distronic with Active Steering Assist, Evasive Steering Assist, and Pre-Safe Impulse Side. The new GLE also comes now as well with Parking System Generation 5.0 – reintroducing the perpendicular parking functionality to the Active Parking Assistant.

As is standard for all Mercedes-Benz passenger vehicles, the 2024 GLE 450 comes with a 4-year/unlimited mileage warranty. Extended warranty packages covering your vehicle in the 5th- and 6th year are also optionally offered.
