The Wrangler is one of the most recognizable cars on the road. Jeep kept the design tradition, with its round headlights and jailhouse grille, pointing back to their first models in 1940.The Wrangler launched in 2006 was available in 6 trim levels: SE, X, Sport, Rubicon, Unlimited and Unlimited Rubicon. The all-new 2006 version of the Wrangler Unlimited brought a longer wheelbase, more doors and room for five adults. This made it the longest in the Wrangler range, a fact which is not necessarily appreciated by people who took their cars off-road. They complained that the car's larger size made it more difficult to control it over rough terrain. Two engines were available for the Wrangler, a 2.4-liter mated with a 6-speed manual gearbox, or a 4.0-liter with a 6-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic gearbox. The interior of a Wrangler was still basic, far from luxurious yet comfortable, excellently served the car’s purpose: a perfect mix between an off-road and a city car. Along with the larger chassis, came a hoard of accessories. In 2007 the Wrangler Unlimited was modified for army use and named the J8. Offered in two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive, Jeep Wrangler Unlimited utilizes the same five-link solid-axle suspension configuration as the standard 2007 Jeep Wrangler. The all-new 2007 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited also retains Wrangler's coveted removable full-framed or half doors, exposed hinges, fold-down windshield and innovative removable and convertible tops.
