car lamborghini drawing Q&A Review

What is a fast sports car that doesn’t draw attention like a Lamborghini?

I’m a Porsche guy and I love all kinds of 911s. I love the way they look and the way they drive. But, I’m a realist, too. The Porsche 911 is pretty common, particularly in big cities. People still notice them, but they aren’t exotic or attention-grabbing like a Lamborghini, Ferrari, or McLaren. A new 911S is very fast and, in a common color like white or silver, wouldn’t draw nearly the attention. Dial it up to a 911 Turbo and you have one of the fastest sports cars on the planet, but to the average person, it’s just another 911 with a spoiler. There are some other fast sports cars that are sleepers, at least compared to those exotics. The Mercedes AMG GT is an incredible car and would compare performance-wise with any of those others. It’s clearly a special car, but it retains enough Mercedes DNA to drop below the exotic level in the eyes of the typical person. Likewise with all the other AMG cars and the BMW M2, M3, and M4. Even the Jaguar F-series. They are great performing sports sedans/coupes, but look pretty similar to the base models, plus those badges just don’t draw the same attention from the average person.

Which was your best moment in life?

You won't believe it though but it's 100% true. If you are fan of cars and drawing you should read it I guess so.. So there was a small competition by ,Lamborghini's head of Design, ,Mitja borkert, ,he said to make Lamborghini drawing and he will shortlist 5 drawings and then choose a winner, and winner will get his hand made sketch. This was the work of mine he posted. Yes this is my work, and I am always really proud in what I draw. Well Unfortunately I lose the competition. Then why I am writing this answer? Because my drawing was shortlisted as one of the top 5 drawing. And for me this was the best thing happened, can you even imagine the guy who Designed Lamborghini cars, he actually saw my work like I was on cloud 9. The competition was on the overall instagram profile and I only posted my 3D work and I rarely post my drawing work. So that was the reason I lose. According to me the winner will be decided by most Liked post and mine was the most liked post from all the shortlisted ones. I am really happy though that he recognised my work. I can't believe it even now. Maybe this was nothing for most of the people. But you know I love designing cars. And for me that day was speechless… . . . . . Thanks for reading:—)

How does it feel to own and drive a Lamborghini?

I’ve had two, both bought new. My first was an 08 LP640 Roadster, and my second was a 10 LP670–4SV, the only Verde Ethaca (green) in the US. Yes, that is me getting yanked out of my SV in the Sir Mix-a-Lot video Carz. That’s also my white Phantom and I’m in the lyrics. When I first bought the LP640, I kept it in Orange County where there are hundreds of exotics around. They are extremely common. You don’t get noticed much, but the cars draw attention from tourists who don’t see them all that often. There are lots of Lamborghini events and you meet a lot of self-made entrepreneurs who are into cars. That was probably the best part of ownership; the other owners I met. When I brought the LP640 here to the Seattle area, the car had a different reaction. For one it was rare at the time and two, it’s a completely different car culture. If you plan to get an exotic to attract women (or men in some cases) forget it. Kids like Lamborghinis. Women assume you’re a player or have some other issue, unless they are into exotic cars. Never ever get one because of how you want people to think of you or treat you because you will be disappointed. The *only* reason to get one is because you like driving and owning the car. The cars are not permission to act like a dick. In fact, just the opposite. My two Lamborghinis required constant care and that was the downside that ruined the fun. Ownership experience with the each car was dismal. The LP 640 had the engine out three times, the SV, twice. The engines come out for a lot of stuff, so it’s normal. Factor that into your cost of ownership. Just assume the engine is coming out for something. The car to pick up women, if that’s your thing, is a Rolls Royce Phantom. None of the other RRs have the same impact. That car was nuts. I got tired of people asking to borrow it for weddings, etc., and that got old, but where it was far more fun than the Lamborghinis was when friends and I would go someplace as a group in the car for dinner in some small town. I have a lot of great memories with that car, but ultimately the fun wore off and it just sat. It’s a pain to park, especially if you don’t want to draw attention. We got to the point where my girlfriend and I would take the Lexus just to avoid the attention. Lamborghinis are fun cars to drive, and the sound is amazing, but there are some big downsides. This is no exaggeration, so factor this in, they cost more to drive per mile than a Boeing Business Jet costs to fly a mile by a factor of two. You read that right. The reason is the depreciation on the cars when calculated per mile. It’s massive! Total the costs, divide by the miles driven, then take a look at the Business and Commercial Aviation annual operators guide and look up the BBJ. You will see that the Lamborghini costs twice as much per mile. So, if you’re buying a new Aventador, just assume it’s going to cost you about $100k that first year to drive, and that’s if you keep the miles off. Don’t go by the resale you see in various ads. The cars change hands for a lot less. You do better buying one used, but then you have to be very careful about the real condition. Lamborghini is fussy about warranty and if the car has been launched a lot, they will not warranty the car. Parts can sometimes take a few weeks to get and if you live in a small town, far from a dealer, factor in the cost of trucking the car for something even as simple as an oil change. It’s why rural exotic owners like the LFA so much. It can be fixed at any Lexus dealer. That’s a big deal if you live in Montana. The cars are fun to dive if you can get somewhere to drive them safely at higher speeds. They are very capable of staying on the road at very high speed, but it’s serious jail time if anyone is around. That alone can cost you your career. I can say at very high speeds, the cars feel like you’re driving on ice. Which is why the Lamborghini Ice Academy makes so much sense. They are cool, they sound great, but after driving anywhere for about two hours, you’re ready to get out. Meanwhile, I drove the Phantom from Seattle to San Francisco in a day and barely felt any fatigue. It also has one of the best car audio systems in the world. As for the smaller RRs, they are just BMW 7 Series so save your money. I decided to get out of exotics because I wasn’t having that much fun or driving them anymore. I’m still active at Exotics at Redmond Town Center, an event I co-founded, but I don’t think about owning another exotic. Too many other things I want to do. It was a great bucket list type of experience.

What are the things they don’t tell you about owning a supercar?

Having driven some supercars at the age of 16, I can tell you this: They are difficult to drive,. Supercars are a Point A to Point A car. In other words: this isn't a car you use to go somewhere. It's a car you take out of your house, and drive around for a while, before you return to your house. You don't go to the mall in it. You don't take it to dinner. You can't pick up anything significant, and you can't transport more than one person. It's not a vehicle you use. It's a toy to be played with. 2. ,The ride quality is atrocious,. When you do take it out, you're hit with a few other problems. Namely: driving the car isn't very enjoyable unless you're on an empty, winding back road. In cities, you have to contend with potholes, road debris, curbs, and other drivers, who aren't checking their mirrors at ,all,, let alone looking for a sports car that barely sits four inches off the ground. Blind spots are significant, and the suspension is harsh. Ordinary city streets are cringeworthy, and filled with bumps you never even knew were there. It's not until you get out, away from crowds, and bad roads, and inattentive drivers, that you can enjoy a car like this. 3. ,The maintenance is expensive,. The other major problem with owning a supercar is the cost, it wasn't cheap. And this is for a reliable Ferrari I drove: one that didn't have a single unexpected repair during the entire year of ownership, aside from a flat tire. So then why is it so expensive? For one thing, the Ferrari dealer charges about $150 per hour for labor. Add in parts, and it's almost impossible to leave the service department without spending $1,000. 4. ,It draws attention, a lot of attention,. I still remember seeing the occasional Ferrari or Lamborghini on the road when I was a little kid, and hoping that it would be me driving it someday. Back then, I had never heard of diminished value. I didn't think about thick rubber mats, or gas station strangers; I didn't consider potholes, or driveway angles, or valet parking. All I knew is: that car is ,cool,, and I bet it's incredible to drive. And I was right: on the right road, on the right day, there's nowhere in the world I'd rather be. But most roads aren't the right roads, it is great when everything is perfect. But other times, it is not a positive experience.

What car will give me the most respect in society?

From a car guy who’s run car shows, there’s a certain criteria that each car meets that gets a reaction from a judge, an enthusiast, a snob, a know-nothing, and from a crowd, in general. Some cars get you noticed. Some cars make people smile. Some cars might get people to approach you just to tell you you have a nice car. You want a car that puts a smile on people’s face when they see it. It’s not pretentious, it’s not offensive or polarizing, or only appeals to certain groups. It shows you know a thing or two about taking care of and loving cars. It’s universally acknowledged AND accepted to be cool. I’ve never owned one, and I generally don’t plan to, but a car that commands the most respect, in general, is a clean, restored classic car. Doesn’t matter what era or model, but I recommend 1960s or earlier, CLEAN, and stands out on the road. So here’s the breakdown: Blending in vs. standing out,. Most people wish to have a car that doesn’t draw attention, an “anonymous car”: a Camry, a Civic, a Crossover, a Mercury Tracer. People don’t ‘respect’ bland, anonymous cars any more than you respect the the gutter down-pipes on your house. I mean, there’s nothing wrong with them, they function, but they’re not going to command any type of special acknowledgement. Personification., “Art cars” “rice rockets” “bumper sticker aficionados” generally people who know nothing about cars, trying to stand out with their own expressionism. Cool to some, but overall, considered tasteless and visually annoying. Modification. ,There are a lot of tasteful modified cars out there, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Lifted Trucks, Hellflush, Lowryders, Cal-Style, Murdered Out, VIP, etc. You can have the cleanest example of a modified car, award winning, even, and the general population wouldn’t care, would probably even think your car looks stupid. Being bigger than anyone else., Yea, that commands respect, and you should respect 26,000+lb big rigs if you think about cutting them off, but a big ass Ford F-650 with a custom paint job just means you have a small dick. NEW! Cars., People don’t care about your new Corolla. It won’t be new for long, anyway. Luxury cars., They’re nice for you, but they’re also designed to blend in and command no emotions from other drivers. I’m a BMW enthusiast, I see a $125,000 7-series going down the road, it’s still “meh.” Exotic cars: ,Lamborghini's command a TON of respect…from 14 year old boys. Actually, they’re fun to look at for all, but a little pretentious for some. You take it to a car show and all the judges are going to think “OK, you ,bought, your trophy.” Sports cars: ,Mustang, Camaro, Corvette, 350Z, etc. No one really cares as much as you think they do. Which leaves classic cars:, They’re not necessarily pretentious or “showy” yet they’re beautiful to look at. They’re not personalized but they’re unique. They’re not typically modified, but they show you have a deep appreciation of cars. They don’t demand your attention, but people can’t help but gaze. Classic cars have a certain charisma that is universally enjoyed by any crowd with or without any expectations.

Have you ever seen something embarrassing but kept it to yourself to save everyone even more embarrassment?

In 2002 I bought a new, shiny, silver-colored Lamborghini Diablo 6.0 (yeah, I know they were made only in 2001 but mine had not been sold in 2001 and so was a new car in 2002). I soon learned how much attention fancy cars like that draw, whether they’re being driven or parked, or whatever. When I would go places in it and park it, when I returned to it there would very often be a small crowd of people gathered around it taking pictures of it, looking through its windows to see how the interior was decked out, and looking around wondering who the owner was. When I’d stride up to it and get in it to drive it away people would watch in awe and would ask me lots of questions about the car and me. One day I decided to go to a nearby city to run some errands, and parked my Lambo in the first set of parking spots alongside the storefronts. I walked several doors away to go to my stop, where I was inside the store for about 20 minutes. When I finished inside the store, I walked back along the storefronts back towards my car, and as usual, there was a group of people standing around it. On this particular occasion, most of the people were kids on bicycles who had stopped to admire the car. But as I got closer I noticed that there was a guy about in his mid-fifties standing on the sidewalk near where my car was parked, and all the kids were looking up at him. When I got close enough to hear, I realized that the kids all thought that the car was his. They were asking the usual questions, such as what was the fastest that he’d gone in it, and he was saying things like “I once took it up to 180 MPH on a vacant freeway”. I had an impulse to continue walking up to my car, nonchalantly get in, and drive away, leaving the kids to shout at him “Fake! Fake! You’re a liar!”, but I didn’t have the heart. Instead, I walked around the car as if I were seeing it for the first time, giving the guy admiring glances, and then just waited. After a long while the kids decided to go, and they all rode off on their bicycles together. Then it was just the guy and me. I said to him, “Nice car!” and he beamed with pride. Then I couldn’t resist, given that it was just him and me, and I asked him how long he’d had it. He said about 3 months. I again said, “Nice car!”. Finally, with my hand inside my pocket I pressed the remote, and the car’s lights blinked and the doors made a clicking sound as they unlocked. At that, the guy’s attention was glued on the car given that it had suddenly come alive, and his eyes were fixed on it as if wondering what it would do next. His proud smile had changed into a look of awe and he stood motionless staring at the car. Then I stepped forward, opened the door (vertically, you know), and set myself in the driver’s seat and fastened the seat belt. I then looked forward through the windshield at the guy. There are no words to describe the expression on his face. It was a sort of mixture of awe, shock, and anger — but not embarrassed, not any sign of a blush. He didn’t say anything or make any motion. When I fired up the engine (and Lambo engines have very distinctive ferocious growls) and backed out of the parking spot, his gaze remained fixed on me. I then put it in forward, revved the engine a few times, and left. I don’t know if the kids knew him or not, but if they had seen the way their encounter with him had really ended he would have never lived it down.

What's the difference between a $100,000, $200,000, $500,000, $1 million, $10 million car?

Yes, there are differences between these price levels with cars, and it is actually the most prevalent from either $100k to $200k or from $500k to $10m. Let’s start comparing: $100k vs $200k A Nissan GTR or a well-optioned BMW M4 goes for around $100k new. Both are fast and the Nissan can probably do 0–60 MPH under 3 seconds rivaling a Ferrari or Lamborghini, and the BMW M4 can do it under 4 seconds. For $200k, this is the price of the cheapest Lamborghini or Ferrari you can get. $200k + is where cars become more “exotic.” Performance wise, this is also where you see 0–60 MPH under 3 seconds become much more common. For $100k, usually, this number is under 4 seconds. Usually, cars become more luxurious and made of higher quality from $100k to $200k as well. Compare a Mercedes S550 to a Mercedes S63. Both are prestige, but the S63 has a bigger engine, and even a bit better interior and seats along with performance. $200k vs $500k $200k gives you entry-level exotic cars. $500k gives you mid-level exotic cars or even top-of-the-line. $200k gives you a Ferrari California. However, while a Ferrari, it has the least powerful engine and I believe is the only Ferrari still produced that makes less than 600 horsepower (comment if I am wrong). When you go from $200k to $500k, production numbers drop steeply, and usually there are V12 exotics instead of V8 exotics (for Ferrari and Lamborghini), and with slightly more performance. However, this isn’t always the case. Drawing differences between a $200k and $500k car are actually not that much. Quality is even very close. $500k vs $1m and $10m So, the only reason some cars are over $10m is just because of their uniqueness and classic appearance. They essentially aren’t really any better than a “run of the mill” $3 million Bugatti Chiron. This is why I am classifying $1m and $10m cars in the same place. Now, including $500k, there are huge differences here. I would say that around 80% of cars that are over $1 million are hypercars. This means that production numbers are very small (less than 1000 ever made usually), performance is not 0–60 under 3 seconds, but under 2.5 seconds rather, and are usually powered by a mix of gasoline engine and hybrid electric. Most of these cars generate over 1000 horsepower while supercars that are $500k might hit 750 horsepower. Yes, a $500k car will give you top 0.1% performance, but a million dollar car would give you top 0.001% if you pick a hypercar like a McLaren P1 or Bugatti Chiron, LaFerrari, etc. $10m cars are just worth this kind of money because of their uniqueness. Performance might not even be that great for some of these cars compared to other ones. People that buy $10m cars and even cars worth in the few millions or over a million are mainly collectors, and don’t actually buy the cars they want just based off of performance, as someone who buys a BMW M4 for only $100k looks for. Update: Thank you to all who supported me with 100+ upvotes and over 10k views. It is greatly appreciated and I am glad this answer gave much value :)
