2021 Toyota Camry facelift unveiled in Europe – arriving in Malaysia next year

Unlike in America and Asia, the Toyota Camry isn’t as huge in Europe but a facelift has just been unveiled for the 2021 Toyota Camry there.

The Malaysian-spec Camry facelift could echo the looks of the European Camry facelift apart from the blue Toyota emblem.

That’s right, the European-spec Camry facelift is only available as a hybrid. Powering the D-segment sedan is a 2.5-litre Dynamic Force hybrid engine that produces a combined output of 210 PS.

In Europe, the Camry is mainly focused on the fleet market, which accounts for 85% of total vehicle sales.

On the outside, the European-spec Camry gets the same makeover as the American facelift with a redesigned front bumper, and upper and lower grilles. The lower grille is available in either a black or dark grey finish.

The European-spec Camry facelift also receives newly-designed 17- and 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels for a sporty look.

Inside, the Camry facelift gets a much-needed modern-look featuring a floating 9-inch infotainment screen with support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

On top of the updated infotainment screen is the newly-developed beige or black premium leather seat upholstery which features herringbone pattern perforations to facilitate seat ventilation. That’s a much-needed feature during seasonal weather changes in Europe.

Just like the American facelift, the European Camry facelift features the latest version of Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) that includes an enhanced Pre-Collision System (PCS). Toyota's updated system comes with daytime front-to-front oncoming vehicle detection, Emergency Steering Assist (ESA), and Intersection Turn Assistance.

Intersection Turn Assistance provides a warning and automatic braking if the driver turns left or right in front of an oncoming vehicle in the opposite lane, or a pedestrian crossing the road from the opposite direction after turning.

Boot space enough for one pair of skis, others would have to rent

Additional driving aids include Full Range Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) and Lane Trace Assist (LTA). The latter is Toyota’s lingo for lane keep assist.

Sales of the Camry facelift will begin throughout Western Europe in autumn. While waiting for the Camry facelift to be launched in Malaysia, check out what will be expected in the enhanced Camry here.

Toyota's Kinto is getting bored, finds a way to make the AH30 Alphard and Vellfire sliding doors close faster

You know how some cars can be truly fantastic except for one minor detail that you just can’t overlook and it ends up ruining the entire driving experience. It could be a terrible head unit or a bad seating position. Well, some of the engineers at Toyota’s Kinto subscription service thought that could be the abysmally slow speed of the sliding doors on the previous AH30 generation of the Toyota Alphard and Vellfire. Either that or they must be getting really bored over there. Or someone has secr
