More than a million Geely Boyue SUVs sold worldwide - Including Proton X70!

Ever since it was launched in 2016, the Geely Boyue completely changed the Chinese automotive industry on its head with some in the Chinese media calling it “the most beautiful SUV”.

4 years later, the Boyue reached another milestone with more than a million units sold worldwide across 17 countries in 4 continents.

Outside of China, the Boyue is also known as the Atlas, Azkarra, or Emgrand X7 Sport. Most Malaysians would not need an introduction for this SUV as it is sold here as the Proton X70.

Geely recognises the success of the X70 ever since it was introduced here in 2018. In its press release celebrating the million-sale milestone, Geely proudly says that the Boyue’s success is repeated in Malaysia with the X70, “helping Proton to transition itself into becoming a technology and value-driven brand in Malaysia as well as the wider ASEAN market”.

Geely stated that it had reached a sales average of 20,000 units per month for the past three and a half years with no signs of slowing down. In 2019, Geely launched the Boyue Pro which is also sold in the Philippines as the Azkarra.

The Boyue Pro/Azkarra came with a mild-hybrid powertrain which paired the turbocharged 1.5-litre engine powering the front wheels with an electric motor powering the rear wheels. This gave it AWD along with an extra boost in power.

Geely has also expanded the Boyue beyond just an SUV with the odd-looking Farizon FX pick-up truck.

In celebration of this sales achievement, Geely launched a special 1 Million Edition of the Boyue which gets some minor cosmetic change including the Infinite Weave grille taken from the Proton X70.

With the second-generation Boyue speculated to be launched in 2022 using the Volvo CMA platform, what exciting future awaits for the next phase of China's most beautiful SUV?

Toyota's Kinto is getting bored, finds a way to make the AH30 Alphard and Vellfire sliding doors close faster

You know how some cars can be truly fantastic except for one minor detail that you just can’t overlook and it ends up ruining the entire driving experience. It could be a terrible head unit or a bad seating position. Well, some of the engineers at Toyota’s Kinto subscription service thought that could be the abysmally slow speed of the sliding doors on the previous AH30 generation of the Toyota Alphard and Vellfire. Either that or they must be getting really bored over there. Or someone has secr
