Following the introduction of the Toyota Corolla Cross in regional markets like Vietnam, Philippines, and Indonesia, the new SUV will be launched in Japan soon.
According to Japanese sources, Toyota is planning to introduce the Corolla Cross in Japan by Q3 2021. The new SUV is said to be produced at Toyota’s Takaoka plant in Aichi with a monthly production of 7,000 units.
As reported earlier, for the Toyota Corolla Cross to succeed in Japan, a hybrid powertrain is a must. The Thai-spec petrol-electric hybrid will almost certainly be offered in Japan, in addition to a naturally-aspirated 1.8-litre unit.

When it goes on sale in Japan, the Toyota Corolla Cross will be competing against the soon-to-be-launched all-new 2021 Honda HR-V - sold there as the Vezel.
Come 2022, the made-in-Japan Toyota Corolla Cross could be exported to Europe and Australia.
Closer to home, the initial allocation of 750 units of the imported (CBU, Thailand) Toyota Corolla 1.8G have sold out. The locally-assembled (CKD) Toyota Corolla Cross will only be introduced in the latter part of this year.
